Watch lightning strike a hapless Toyota Landcruiser
When we thought we'd make it to the end of the month before we saw another video from the roads of Russia, we were wrong. Just after the video of the truck driver dismounting from the windshield of his cab, we have of a bolt of lightning saying hello to a Toyota Landcruiser.

In general, if it is an all-metal vehicle with rubber tires(as the majority of vehicles are), you are safe inside...as long as you aren't touching anything metal inside that is directly connected to the car's metal frame. But on vehicles with space-frames and non-metallic body parts (Thermoplatic, fiberglass, carbon-fiber, etc...) that may not always be the case...depending on the specific design and materials.

And both keep driving like nothing happened? Something's fishy....

I'm thinking lighting hit the ground near the Land Cruiser. If I remember my high school science class correctly, rubber IS NOT a conductor of electricity. Lightining seeks a path to the ground, thus if it struck a car, it would have to travel through the rubber tires.
All bets are off though if there was a tow chain or a metal part of that SUV touching the ground. It would be "grounded" and make a perfect conductor for electricity.
