That's actually not quite true. I'm no Kia fanboy, but Kia has been saying a base model will be introduced since the K900 got on the market. Only thing is they said it would have a V6, while this base model is keeping steady with the V8. Doesn't change the fact that the sales have been slow though.

Sat in the K900 at the car show. No interest in it whatsoever. The Equus is a better package, IMHO.

I covered most of the lower-level displays today at the D.C. show. Notice how the Equus had a large private display-booth all to itself, while the K900 was simply out on the floor mixed in with all the other new Kias.

I've actually driven/reviewed both, though, and the K900, to my senses, actually felt more refined and like a classic luxury car. The Equus, though I admit it's a good value for the money, basically looked and felt like it was an LS460 with a somewhat less-refined engine/powertrain and chassis.

Though I have my doubts, a K900 might (conceivably) keep up on a straight-line drag strip with an IS-F (though the IS-F would have to be poorly-driven). But, in handling, forget it....no comparison. The K900, with a relatively mushy suspension by today's standards, is designed for riding comfort, not canyon-carving, and almost any IS model (much less an F) would eat up a K900 up in the twisties. Not to mention, of course, that the public street is not a place for drag-racing to start with.

it was definitely a straight line race.. I agree that the k900 has no chance at handling....

Even then (and on a proper drag strip, not a street), with an IS-F jock who is a skilled driver and knows what he or she is doing, a big, heavy K900 keeping up with the IS-F would be really stretching it. However, a Genesis 5.0L (which uses the same 5.0L engine) might be a different story. I've driven both the K900 and Genesis 5.0L, and the Genesis is markedly quicker.

from a roll, where weight and traction is not a factor, all cars with the same peak power run neck and neck in a straight line, K900, IS-F, E92 M3, 360 Modena, 993 Turbo, C4 ZR1, C5 Z06............

Default Superstar LeBron James Teases 'King James Edition' KIA K900

It looks like the partnership between KIA, the NBA's official vehicle and it's best player LeBron James is progressing nicely. After last week's 'Special Place' K900 ad, LeBron found it convenient to tease us with this special edition 'King James' version.

Unfortunately all we get (for now) is a body panel, specifically the front wing, featuring a badge that lets you know this isn't just any K900. Knowing LeBron, he was involved in pretty much all the stages of putting this version of the car together, so whatever color combinations you were to find inside, we're pretty sure they were his choice - much like he gets final say when it comes to his sneaker endorsement with Nike.

We like the color and we think that if the theme of the car is going to be a red and black one (black badge, maybe black rims and other inserts) it's going to look pretty good no matter what you think of KIA as a car manufacturer.

Like we said before, it's not that the K900 is a bad car or even a bad looking car, it's just that it doesn't really have a cool factor like it's premium rivals do.

No word on when we get to see the whole car, so we'll just have to keep waiting for either LeBron or KIA to surprise us with it.

a used k900 will likely be the luxury bargain of the century.

New ones probably won't be a bad deal, either. Although it is still somewhat more than I personally would want to send for a new car, they will probably sell for significantly under list.

The biggest (potential) problem with this car seems to be pretty much what the VW Phaeton faced some years ago....just getting people to go look at it. A horse can't drink if it isn't led to water.

Default LeBron Reveals 'King James Edition' K900 Upholstery

Well, Mr LeBron, would you just show us the car already? This "unveiling" is taking more than it would probably take Bugatti to tease their next generation Veyron!

Regardless of how we might feel (and we're pretty sure you guys feel the same), LeBron seems excited about the work they're doing on the KIA K900, saying things like "They Still Ain't Ready" using hashtags on his Facebook page.

And even though we feel we're really, really ready here, we'll admit that those seats look awesome, since you know, LeBron James has one of the best personal logos in the history of the NBA - and it goes perfectly with those black leather headrests.

So apart from the upholstery, the two tone wheels and the badges (we assume they'll be on both sides of the car), we still don't know anything about any other mods that LeBron may have come up with.

But we're hoping he shows us the finished product already, preferably before April 18th, when the Playoffs start and players usually drop off social media in order to focus on their first round matchups.

At least, that's what superstars that get to compete for Championships do, which is pretty much what defines LeBron as a basketball player.
