2016 MX-5 Miata thread

2195 lbs MR-2 Spyder used to go 0 - 60 in 6.5 secs or so just with 138 hp.
I would be satisfied with 160 hp in this Miata.
Current 2.0L Miata has 158 hp, I'd guess this new one will be over 160 hp.
EDIT: Oops, it actually is 167 hp now.

Neither do I. The new look is too weird, especially the front. I see it being a cute little car from the side profile, sleek rear, and why is it so angry at the front ? angry but not scary, because I know you are cute, and you will never bite. Mazda, you are trying too hard, but it doesn't go anywhere......

it's "very nice" but not really radical. the drive/weight though are no doubt magical.

The front end looks like a grinning catfish.
Perhaps it is just the reflection from the lighting, but that looks like a rather unusual pinkish color.

Here's an autoblog shot of the new right-hand drive interior. It doesn't seem to have changed much from the old 3Gen version, except for the center dash/upper console, air vents, the pop-up video screen, and a few other gauge/**** locations.

It like it and I rarely give my personal opinion on new models. Being a former BR-Z owner, I cannot help but see some similarities. It seems as if the front pays homage to the NB MX-5 design (1995) and BR-Z/GT86 design (2009/10). The rear clearly has borrowed from our very own XK X150 (2002) and the X152 F-Type (2011) designs. While the ND MX-5 has been long in the making, I am certain a design freeze occurred in 2012-early 2013. meaning any existing models were accessible to designers.
Interesting to see you here Levi! Enjoyed your GCF posts a lot

First Look Under New Mazda MX-5’s Hood
As is the case with press photos and press events, you only get to see and are only allowed to take photos of what the manufacturer wants you to. That’s why we’d not seen shots of what the new Mazda MX-5 / Miata was like under the hood, how its engine looked and was positioned.
These fuzzy first photos show a unit with fairly little plastic cladding, proudly bearing the SKYACTIV inscription.
We don’t know which unit it actually is, though it’s most likely a two-liter four-pot – some say it could be a detuned two and a half liter, but that just seems a bit off for an all-new MX-5 in this day and age. Power-wise, it should make at least 155 hp (Mazda3/6/CX-5 rating), though closer to 170 is more realistic.
In fact, we’d go so far as to say it’d more likely be a sub-two liter unit, instead of a larger one – Mazda could extract more power out of their 1.5-liter, make it produce more than the 100 hp it currently musters.
