What was the MOST UNRELIABLE auto you ever owned!

My subarus have both been superb!
My dad however, had a '95 Oldsmobile Aurora with a 4.0L Northstar that made it a whopping 70k miles. He was trading the car in to Toyota when it stalled. He started it an turned into the parking space where it stalled again...and that was the end.

My 1997 GMC Jimmy 4WD had it's share of problems. Stalled when coming to a stop on freeway offramps, bad bearing in the driveline, defective tires (Michelins), water in the taillights, a nasty rattle in the rear hatch I could never pinpoint, and half the lighting on the tachometer was dim compared to the rest. Appearantly they all had that.
Still liked the style, comfort, and ride though.

Back to the topic, i would say my dads 1993 dodge caravan And my first car 1993 nissan maxima back in 2006. Dodge had it tranny replaced 10 times in 12 months that never worked like i was suppose to. Dad got rid of it, my maxima, battery, starter, whole rack and pinion job, dirty fuel injectors had to change all 6 twice. Bolt joints, control arms and in the end tranny died. It was a 13 year old car with 130k miles on it.

My 06 BMW X5, the air compressor broke twice and BMW is the only one that can replace so you know they killed me with the price and the front left air shock got stuck to the lowest setting so I had to replace the whole thing. On the other hand, My GS's have never gave me a problem.

I can't actually believe someone said ls400 wasn't reliable. My friend had an ls400, that thing been through hell including getting hit by a bus twice at low speeds. Exterior was all beat up, interior radio didnt work seats ripped half of the electronics didnt work. That thing started from the first crank, ac, and heat worked fine. We used to drive that thing 100 miles each way everyday, above 80 mes it would shake like the wheels are about to fall out. But guess what it drove got us from a to b. It had 250.000 miles on it. In the end he didnt do the timing belt maintance and it water pump died. He had to fork over $1000 for repairs and thats when he said it wasnt worth the money with such a beat up exterior interior and mileage on the car.
That being said, I loved the car dearly, and when I gave it to my brother it saved his life when he got in a freak accident.

Had a 1984 Renault Alliance for about 2 months in high school.
^looks just like mine.
Thing was an absolute disgrace. I bought it for $200 because it looked neat, and I had my lexus ES250 and needed something to drive while working on the lexus. turns out, all 4 rings went, then it blew the head. I put a new (used) head on it (try finding THAT set of parts) and the block cracked.
Epic Fail. I called a junkyard and got $350, but the head set me back $300, so I ate some money to get rid of it, but I should have seen it coming a mile away. It was an AMC product from the 80's.
LOL!!!

Believe it or not, my most unreliable car was a 1985 AE86 Coupe.
Alternator, power steering rack, distributor, wheel bearings, muffler, 3 brake master cylinders, water pump. I bought it used and only put about 30k miles on it. The car didn't even have 100k on it when I sold it.

My mother's 1979 Chevy Chevette. Transmission issues, brakes, electrical...you name it. However, a 1979 Chevrolet Nova belonging to my father ended up lasting us almost 15 years.

My 94 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the biggest piece of junk I've ever owned. It had blown motor, crappy transmission, active aero spoiler stopped working, busted bearing, broken speedometer and odometer. I babied this car and only put exhaust, intake, and wheels on the car.

I would probably say my Nissan 300zx. It is always down for something. I can never drive it a full year without it needing major repair. I had a 92 Mitsubishi Diamante, was great at first, ECU's for the transmission, engine, airbag, and A/C went out all at separate times.

P.s no such thing as BMW being the only ones to replace it.
