If Lexus made an alternative fuel version of the next IS Sedan, if so what and why?
After seeing the 2011 IS 200d in person last October in Paris and a few of my friends purchasing BMW 335d sedans most recently...the question that comes to mind is, "Would you ever buy an alternative fuel version of the IS sedan? If so, would you like it in Hybrid or Diesel? I know we all want a real 2 door Lexus IS coupe and of course in manual, but we all know in reality it will never happen. Would you consider IS sedan in Diesel or Hybrid? How about with a factory F-Sport Package?

IS200d F-Sport? How did you like it? Seriously considering it here.
IMHO, i would get hybrid over it... diesel with US treatment required is very close to the Hybrid price. In fact, it is well known that manufacturers in Europe subsidize their diesel engine price to be "only" $3k more than comparable petrol engine.

I think a Hybrid IS Sport Cross would be cool, But I don't really think I'd personally be in for an alternative fuel IS. A turbo 4 instead of the 2.5 V6 on the other hand...... would be quite interesting, especially with a good manual box.

I think if Lexus is gonna go with Hybrid, it has to be exclusively MPG worthy. What is MPG worthy? To me, 35-37 MPG minimum driving at a pleasant pace. Most people I know that have bought the IS didn't buy it necessarily because it was sporty, mainly because it is a cheaper Lexus, it'll give them even more incentive that it gets great MPG.

A 2 door IS coupe WILL happen, it will just take time though, most likely in the next generation.
As for an alternative fuel version, Lexus is king when it comes to Hybrids, and an IS hybrid just makes sense. They don't have a diesel makes here in the States, and probably wont be releasing them here for quiet some time.
That's just my 2 cents.

No IS should stay as petrol only. Hybrid is contradictory to performance image-wise. IS-F and IS hybrid can not coexist, therefore, hybrid must go. But adding a high revving four cylinder engine to IS might work imo.
