2014 Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 Debuts In New York
Scion has revealed a special edition FR-S at today’s 2014 New York Auto Show. The car is called the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 and it will be built in a limited run of just 1,500 examples.
The FR-S Release Series 1.0 is meant to draw on Toyota’s track heritage, although we’re not exactly sure how. The car does comes with a number of performance upgrades from TRD but these are limited to new quad-exhaust tips, lowered springs and some aero pieces.
All 1,500 examples will be finished in a bright yellow known as Yuzu, and they’ll also come with HID headlamps with LED daytime running lights. Inside the vehicles, unique elements include a TRD steering wheel, shifter **** and trunk mat as well as black-trimmed seats and a numbered plaque located just before the gear shifter.
The good news is that the price of the FR-S Release Series 1.0 is expected to start below $30k, although it may exceed that once you add Scion’s usual $755 destination charge. Final pricing will be announced closer to the car’s sales launch this August.

I always wonder why they didn't improve the material/specs and introduce this as a luxury model/brand. I would think more will buy if it had a luxury badge but I guess they already sell well as is. Such a nice design for an affordable price.

Toyota GT86 Suspension Upgrades Might Reach FR-S
The Toyota GT86, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ are all the same car, but each is not created equal depending on where in the world they will be sold.
In the European market, the Toyota GT86 is getting some better suspension parts for the 2015 model year, which may eventually find their way into the North American Scion FR-S.
The improvements include stiffer mounts for the front suspension and rear shock absorbers, along with new rear shocks for improved damping and less friction. Toyota claims that this will give the car sharper steering and less body roll.
These advances were announced specifically for the European market, but Toyota is considering bringing these changes to the Scion FR-S as well. “The European changes are among those being considered for the US model FR-S and we’ll have final confirmation soon,” Toyota spokeswoman Nancy Hubell told Autoblog.

Subaru BRZ gets 2,500 GBP price cut in UK
Starts at 23,995 GBP
Subaru UK has announced a significant 2,500 GBP price cut for the BRZ which now starts at 23,995 GBP OTR.
If you've been saving up for the BRZ we have good news as Subaru has slashed 2,500 GBP from the coupe's price tag which now kicks off at 23,995 GBP for the entry-level SE Lux variant with the six-speed manual gearbox while the automatic version begins at 25,495 GBP.
Subaru was able to reduce the model's price as a result of a more favorable exchange rate between the pound and yen since IM Group is in charge of importing the BRZ from Japan to United Kingdom. In terms of equipment, the base version comes fitted as standard with Alcantara & leather seats, a Torsen rear-axle differential and steering wheel-mounted shift paddles.
Power comes from the same 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated engine generating 200 PS (147 kW) and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft) as in the recently revised Toyota GT 86 and the Scion FR-S.

I don't know about people, but driving both BR-Z and STI....there is not even a comparison from the STI to the BR-Z. Probably the Price ? STI is 10k more than the BR-Z ? But to me, even if someone to put 10K in his brand-new BR-Z, he is not getting anywhere even close to the Stock STI.
I am saying that Toyota is too ignorance to not have any power boost in their first, and successful platform, the 86 in a decade.
Thankfully to Toyota and Honda ignorance, Subaru is gaining Momentum, and Toyota doesn't even realize how much Attention the BRZ is Generating for the new STI and Subaru Brand image. The reliability factors from Toyota, the Design, the Marketing, the Hype are all built to boost Subaru images, and while Toyota doesn't care about Power, Subaru kept on pushing it further. The thing brought my attentions toward Subaru, and here I am with my new 15 STI

I agree with you that 250hp or so would be amazing, let alone 300...
The GS/IS and FT86 chassis are utterly amazing and more power would really exploit them. The RC F will be the first to do this.

They could have easily put more power, bigger rims, wider tires, bigger brakes, firmer suspensions, and etc. to get better performance. But that's not what they wanted to build. They wanted to build a well balanced car. If you don't understand this, then this car is not for you.
