Default Which Gas Company is Best?

In your opinion, which company's gas is the best for our 2IS?!?!

Down here majority of the companies are not brand name, well.........maybe except for BP. But, I haven't seen Sunnoco, Mobile, etc.....

How's BP's 93 octane for IS350? Any one used it yet?

In today's world with fuel specs tighter than an ant's behind all fuels will meet spec, that's the law. Fuel is usually supplied from one or two refineries in an area, so if you live in, say, Southern California you may get fuel from the ExxonMobil refinery in Torrance whether you buy it from BP, Exxon, or the local Quickie Mart. If you would ever see the tanker trucks loading up at the fuel racks at a major refinery they will be from all the major brands, and independents. It's just a commodity, and a volume business. The difference is in the additive pack which is usually added when the tanker is offloaded. Each of the major brands has their own blend, but there is really very little difference between the brands. I've never, ever had any fuel issues or engine problems from any source I've bought from. Pick a source that is priced right and is convenient to your house or commute route. Whatever the advertisements would like to tell you THERE IS VERY LITTLE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BRANDS. It's a business based on volume.

Yea, I know that they all share same pipelines but, the question becomes: Which company's additives are BETTER? I am not sure what type of additives they use and I am not sure which company offeres the best "Additive" gas that is good for our IS350's for 91, 93, etc octane since, I've never filled up my 15 yrs old Honda with higher octane rating?

That's actually the original name of Chevron after the brake up of the whole Standard Oil monopoly.

Here's an interesting site that explains the evolution:
http://www.us-highways.com/soworld.htm

Speaking of monopolies...doesn't this sound very familiar. AT&T (Ma Bell) broken up...then reforming to the New AT&T.

Standard is Chevron, back before the 1970s or so, there was Standard Oil of California, Standard Oil of Ohio and I forget who else - it was after the Anti-Trust acts of the 1930s that broke up the Standard Oil empire...

For me, I use mostly Shell, Chevron, 76 or Costco. No Arco junk here.

So far, most of you guys are correct. Chevron and Shell are generally the best two brands today, mostly because of high-quality detergent packages.
Mobil used to have the best and strongest detergent package, but since Exxon bought thm out, you really don't know what you're getting with them any more. Amoco was also a very high-quality brand (they, alone, among major oil companies, were producing lead-free gas as far back as the 60's when everybody else was using lead as an octane booster and valve lubricant) but, like with Exxon/Mobil, since they were bought out by BP, you don't really know what you're getting now with them.

Mobil definitely is in the top tier. Most of the time Shell loads their trucks from Mobil ports. Trust me on this one i have proof.

honestly there really may be no difference regionally or with in the same area....my dad used to have a gas station and so do two of my uncles....regardles of brand the gas may come from the same place....for example one of my uncles gas station was an off brand and he received his gas from a local distributor...then he got the BP franchise for his store...and the gas still came from the same place....after having some probelms with BP he went back to an offbrand name...and yet again gas came from same place....
