I noticed that despite being a Japanese website, they have sparse bits of English here and there.

Why is that? Is it common enough for Japanese people to be able to understand english wording that it can be inserted various places on their websites without confusion? And if so... why? Do they think it's cool to use a little english?

Maybe I'm way off base here but feel free to educate me.

Have you ever seen a Japanese car with Japanese writing on the back? It is always in English, it is because they know English

It will probably the replacement model for the xA in the US, since they will not be bringing the next generation IST over. Matrix days are over. Just like how tC took over the Celica.

Also there has been a fairly large penetration of English words into Japanese vocabulary, so much so that in recent years some decried the fact that the Japanese language was simply adopting English words with no Japanese equivalent--in essence, the English word had become de-facto Japanese.

Note also how the Lexus.jp site has English menus--makes it a lot easier for non-Japanese speakers to navigate.

Oh and the Auris looks hot!
