V8-powered BMW M3 revealed; Cadillac's Super CTS surfaces
Both not new stories, but more info on both.
BMW’s M3, scheduled for launch next year, will feature V8 power for the first time, derived from the same powerplant propelling its road-rocket siblings, the M5 and M6. The 4.0-liter engine should deliver 415 hp via a seven-speed sequential manual gearbox or an optional six-speed manual.
In these photos our spy caught the M3 on a test drive near Munich, allowing us to reveal the car from every angle. Note the large air intakes at the front end, wider fenders and four exhaust pipes.
BMW’s sunshine-loving buyers will have to wait an extra year for the convertible M3, along with a rumored four-door “bring the family” M3 sedan.
Though we'd hardly consider the Cadillac CTS V-Series ordinary, it’s clear this version is well beyond that performance CTS.
We last encountered the CTS Super V in testing at the Nürburgring (“Spied: Super V!, May 31, 2004), but this one—spotted recently by an alert spy shooter—appears much closer to production-ready. We’re told it’s the 2007 CTS Super V, and that it is powered by a 7.0-liter 505-hp LS7 V8 lifted directly from the Corvette Z06.
The Super V also features custom bodywork, huge rear tires, larger exhaust pipes and an engine sound unlike any other CTS.
With the new CTS slated for arrival as a 2008 model, speculation is that Cadillac will offer this exclusive model as a last hurrah for the exiting first-generation CTS.
If that’s not powerful enough, wait for the next-generation CTS Super V, which is rumored to be equipped with the LS9 engine—a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 600 hp. But you’ll be waiting at least until the 2010 or 2011 model year for that one.

As a bmw fan I am not to pleased with the coupe body style, but I'll wait until real photos are released before I make my decision.
That caddy super v will be nasty! Cant imagine it costing much less than a real M5 though

Super V sounds cool. But I'm really not impressed. Corvette powered Caddys is like an oxymoron to me. I dont care how much sport they have added to the brand recently, I will never get past the floaty comfortable ride that they have been known for for decades.

The current CTS V handles great. It is a completly different animal than the stock CTS V. Suspension is tighter, 6 speed tranny and motor from the Vette, and it just looks meaner with those wider tires. Drive it, and you will be in love. I can only imagine the Super V being a killer car. The zo6 motor is insane
