Default Importing a SC300

Just wondering if its a big ordeal or just like importing any other american car? I am planing on the 2jzgte swap and thought that it would be better to start off with a sc300 vs. the sc400.

Also, do you guys recommend any shops in the Vancouver area that have done the swap before and have a good reputation?

appreciate it

SC300 would be easier to do the swap because the mount would be the same
ull need to make sure DRL and such are there to comply with the canadian motor laws

not sure which shop has done the 2JZ-GTE swap but my mechanic says he can do pretty much all the engine swaps

theres also Garage Five that has a decent reputation but not sure if they know how to do a 2JZ-GTE swap

r u planning to drop the supra trans in too?

second vote here for garage five.

talk to wayne at that shop about his 5spd US-spec SC300 project car. the last time i saw it early last year, he was building up a 6spd 2jzgte from a supra for that car... and a few other "little" body mods

Thanks for the info guys. It sure is hard to find a sc300 5spd, especially one that is in decent shape. That also goes for finding a 2jzgte with a 6speed. I think i might just go for an auto sc300 with low mileage (a 97+ for the body differences) and just pick up a JDM 2jzgte with a W58 (auto tranny) and just throw it in there without doing to many mods.

Putting a 6speed in a sc300 requires a custom driveshaft as well as a 6speed tranny mount, master/slave cylinders, and AT/MT conversion.

I will have to give garage 5 a call and see what they say.

what about just importing a 1991 JDM twin turbo soarer?

examples:

http://maxoverdrive.ca/index.php?vid=TOYOTA&mid=Soarer

although it's a 5spd 1jzgte... it's still nothing to sneeze at

but if all else fails and you end up with an sc400.... you should read this:

hope you have deep pockets

I do like the soarer, but im not gonna go with a LHD car, and its definatly not worth it to convert to RHD.

I would only go for a USDM SC300, they only cost about 10-12k usd for a low milage one, which is cheaper then the SC400's up here, and its easier to swap motors in a SC300 because they came with a 2JZ-GE from the factory.

That tranny kit for the SC400 is pretty sick though, that thing would be very fun to drive

So I also think that the supra TT auto tranny doesn't bolt up to the SC300 driveshaft like I thought it would. I guess I might as well get a 6speed and source out the conversion parts like pedal assembly, master/slave cylinders etc.

If any of you know the exact parts nessecary I would appreciate it.

I wouldn't deal with Max Overdrive. Had some bad experiences with him and importing my car in. Quoted me one thing...took my deposit...jacked the price up when it got here.

i never looked into that... is the firewall stamping the same as the LHD version? maybe it's as simple as swapping dashboards, pedal box, and steering components from a local wrecked sc?

Hey man, nothing wrong with an auto, the fastest SC300 to date runs an auto.
