oil leaking some where i cant locate?
Hi my name is Ryan, I'm a new member to CL and thought it will help with my build n fixes. I have a small oil leak that I think is coming from the oil pan(maybe a gasket change?) but I smell a small oil burn by the engine. What might possibly be the problem? Yr200 btw

Most leaks usually end up dripping from somewhere near the oil pan. If you smell it burning, its probably hitting the exhaust manifold. I'd start with the valve cover gaskets. But, we really need more information before anybody can give you an informed opinion. How many miles on it, when was it last serviced, how has it been maintained, etc. Pics would help too.
btw, welcome to the club!

Its a 2000 w/152000miles.it looks like oil. from the bottom of the engine, by the oil pan. Just bought the car and don't really know when the last time its been its been worked on. Hoping its something simple.

You should probably move out of the build thread. Welcome to CL and check the valve cover gaskets as mentioned. if you just bought the car and don't know the history a spark plug change may not be a bad idea (plenty of diys here). if you don't find any oil top side then check the oil pan gasket but generally it seems most leaks are topside.

Almost all leaks will eventually be pulled down to the bottom of the car by gravity and appear to come from the oil pan gasket. It is possible that the oil pan gasket is leaking. However, it is not that common on these cars unless you have bottomed out and hit something. Much more likely culprits are the ones mentioned by mk2tmr2, cam seals, cranks seals vvt-i pulley, especially with those many miles. If you are not familiar with the history you probably need to have all that replaced anyway, along with the timing belt, water pump and ball joints.
