SC300 NA-T/Body work
Here is the turbo kit minus the wastegate and some other hardware when i got it...a $1299 kit from 98MKIV on supraforums/clubna-t. I chose this over a Dave H kit as it seemed to have more potential to push bigger numbers through more boost and higher flow rates and provided a little better torque with the long runner type manifold, and mark charged me 600 instead 1300 since thats the ebay cost.
I ported/polished the insides of the mani some and test fitted it, no problems. To get the 4" inlet/downpipe to fit of the turbo i had to clock the T4 flange away from the distributor a few degrees. I used a 1/2" 90* angle drill to drill the oil return in the upper pan, using a 7/8" heater hose fitting tapped into the stock TT location. I picked up some oil return hose at a semi truck warehouse and used russel fittings to mount it after sleeving it in braided SS.
I also changed the studs out to slightly larger higher tensile studs. I test fitted the turbo to the mani with the 4" downpipe start.
I angled the 50 mm wastegate so that it would be easy to add a boost controller and so the wg dump angled straight down at the ground.
Once everything was test fitted i started installing everything, heres the turbine mounted on the mani. had to pull the dist. to get everything to install, i also changed out some parts inside the dist. that were starting to wear.

Heres everything installed.
oil lines/manifold... I got the front mount IC all piped up and ready.
again everything installed.
My shop and the car.
the turbo is a .84 a/r turbine and .68 a/r compressor. i will be running 10psi which should put this car in the 300+rwhp range with proper fuel and timing. down the road Im also making a new intake manifold, added with aristo ecu to get rid of the maf and distributor should really clean up the engine bay.

yea one pipe kit was enough to do two cars actually. as long as you get the 8 pc. pipe kit. Right now im looking at options for trans...6 sp is too costly, so the R154 swap is pretty much the only choice for m/t, and th400 is about the only choice for auto. secretSC on supra forums says there is a company who is machining GM 2nd gear sprag's for use in the stock auto which is the only part that really fails in the stock auto, and why BL SP and many other "built" autos dont hold up after 400 rwhp, the 2nd sprag breaks. so if there is a company that is addressing that issue i might try one of those trannys.
the total cost so far for parts was about $1000...maybe $1200. getting the stuff welded and whatnot cost around $250. the exhaust was reeeeallly spendy, in the $1700 range for the whole thing including downpipe. i dunno if it was worth it yet for the full custom borla 4" with 4" downpipe. it sounds better than any exhaust ive heard on any car. so in that regard it was worth it. so all in all i think the cost was around $3000-3500, but I got a lot more than what other companies offer for the same price, the HPF kit for $4500 has no IC or exhaust. i could've completed this using a smaller turbo and the stock exhaust with cat deletes for around $1500. it was all the custom shop work and labor that killed it being a budget project.

its not really a budget kit, i got more than in a BL or HPF $4000 kit for around the same. it just left money over for other things. also the exhaust was quoted at $800 and turned out more than it should've, i couldn't really say no to the shop.
the kit installed with tuning the e-manage and the exhaust/downpipe was 2500 total, then another 700-800 in parts, and theres probably some other little stuff im forgetting...so around 3500 for the whole thing. i did some of the work myself to try and cut costs, like drilling the oil return and installing the wastegate/manifold. some other shops would've only cost 2500 for everything done, but the shop i took it to is one of the best so i think the shop you go with, depending on how good they are, is going to cost more or less. John Reed and Tim Robards were the ones that did the work. $3500 for everything (including ridiculous exhaust/downpipe) isnt too bad though, I dont regret putting money into that aspect of it.

havent had a chance at a full boost pull yet. with the exhaust and better flowing mani the car still made about 250 hp with ~5psi boost on the dyno at Rrev. thats a gain of 32 hp at the wheels over stock. i was impressed by that, i didnt expect any gains without much boost. i have some additional parts on order that once installed the car is going back to the dyno for a nice 8 psi pull. im hoping for ~300 hp at the wheels.
