UPDATE: I haven't been on here for while been a busy last few months. Got married, went on a honeymoon to Aruba and than the pressure plate broke in the clutch. So the car has been sitting for a month or two now. Sense than I've been collecting parts for my th400 swap. Now that I have everything for the auto, ill be swapping that in instead of putting the r154 back in.

Here's a few pics what happen to the southbend pressure plate

Also slightly modified the 3800 stall Pro-torque converter to accept ARP flywheel bolts. The thread size Protorque used is a 9mmx1.25 (2j NA converter size) which ARP doesn't make a bolt for. Searched around and found that they have a 10mmx1.50 flywheel bolt. Re-tapped the converter bolts to make them work.

Trans cooler is also installed. It is sitting next to the engine cooler on the AC condenser in front of the radiator.

Nice!!! Nothing beats rowing gears manually but that TH400 is going to make the car consistently fast.

I will still be able to shift through the gears in the auto. The th400 I am getting built my Jakes Performance is coming with a manual valve body with a transbrake. Should be fun

th400 is in and about ready for its first run. Ran into one snag with the rear trans mount so im waiting for the ATF rear mount to show up.

I need to run cooler lines, install driveshaft and rear mount. Fill her up with some oil and see what happens

I had to get my buddy to make a billet Stainless spacer for the SFI approved flexplate.

Next up I figured out how to get the speedo to work with the Factory cluster with out using a Dakota Digital box.

All the parts that are needed. The plastic gear ratio's are determined by rear diff ratio and tire height to get the correct MPH. And the Yellow sensor coverts the signal to the Toyota 4 pulse speedo. Sensor ground and Signal from the original speed sensor plug are used to make this work.

Metal gear installed on the output shaft.

Punched out the plug that was here where the factory GM speed sensor goes. This was off a 4wd unit which is why it was plugged up.

Testing the speedo to make sure the sensor worked. Attached it to a drill and spun the sensor.

And here is the Th400 ready to go.

Factory A340e bell housing is on, along with the 3800 stall Pro Torque, torque converter.

Only clearance issues I ran into was the shifter lever.. Marked it, dropped the trans and hammered away.

And its bolted on

Just about! My drive shaft is about 4" short, not sure what car it was for but getting that sorted out today and hopefully have it back tomorrow.

This is a stage 5 from Jakes Performance with trans break, reverse valve body, billet input/output shafts, full rollerized bearings, aluminium drums etc etc.. Should hold a healthy 1500hp if not more.

Picked up the driveshaft and man I wish I would have gone to these guys instead of ordering through DM. They are local and turn around time is next day or even same day if specs given in the morning. They are local to me which is awesome. Gave them the specs for what I need and got a call this morning at 9am saying its ready to be picked up. About $300 cheaper than order from online shipping and waiting a week for it to show up!

Also got a few shots of the th400 clearance for reference to anyone that wants to do this swap. Only area I had to bang out was for the shift lever on the trans.

Trans break and cooler line fittings. I used 45 degree -6 fittings off the trans instead of the straight that are pictured.

Dive shaft fitment was perfect. 3/4" backed out after being bottomed out inside the trans. I also double checked the torque converter mounting pads to flexplate gap to ensure that the torque converter wont damage the pump inside the trans. That is a common mistake some folks make when installing a th400. The tolerance for this is between .060" to .187". I have at about .137".

Also installed the ATF rear trans mount. I flipped the cross member around so that it is "backwards" or pointing to the rear of the car. Reason for this is, that it will give you access to the rear part of the oil Pan bolts, making it easier to change filters with out taking the cross member off.

Now all that's left is to fix up the exhaust and fill up the trans and see what happens!
