panel paint chips! help!
so, i have a 3IS (matador red mica) and a rock flew at the car, hitting the passenger side door and chipping it down to the metal in a number of places.
i emailed or called a number of mobile detailing guys who specialize in either restoring and/or reconditioning marred areas, e.g., bumper scuffs, and received a number of responses that said that the entire panel would have to be repainted or i'd have to use touch-up paint, either oem or dr. colorchip.
i'm not willing to repaint the panel because that would be ridiculous (see attached pics - water bottle cap for scale), although the damage is still bugging the hell out of me.
any ideas? i've used dr. colorchip in the past on my 2IS which was starfire pearl and it matched well enough, i guess. i actually think it matched better than the oem touch-up paint, although perhaps only because dr. colorchip wasn't as difficult to apply and was much easier to level. the oem touch-up paint is really difficult to evenly apply, even using the toothpick method.
