Auto Vacuum

I got this:
This uses power from your standard AC outlet which I prefer instead the car's cigarette lighter outlet. I've been impressed by it thus far. It can be used as a vacuum and blower. I have even used the long narrow attachment from my house vacuum with this vacuum to get those hard to reach areas.

I just use a shop vac mounted on the wall in my garage:

Works fine. There are some really nice high end wall vac systems if you want to spend some bucks, but a shop vac works fine.

I'd highly recommend the Metro Vac N Blo
This is a compact, but powerful vacuum and also works great as a blower to remove water from cracks & crevices after you've washed your car.

They're beasts! I have a couple of Metro products... the Master Blaster and Blaster Sidekick. Having used leaf blowers to dry my car before upgrading the the Metro products... I can tell you there is no comparison.

I put a Electrolux 4B-H902 (Honeywell) 240v dual stage central vac in the house and piped a port to the garage. It's easy to deal with a 30 foot hose and the right attachments including carpet brushes and upholstery attachments. Yes, it is expensive but it serves the whole house as well as an extremely powerful vacuum for autos. It is virtually noiseless as the central unit is tucked away in the lower level. It exhausts to the outside so there is no chance that any minuscule dust, allergens pollen, mites, etc. can escape its HEPA filter and re-enter the home. This thing is powerful enough to suck a golf ball through a 50 foot garden hose (an exaggeration, but it is the most powerful beast of a vacuum I've ever encountered. It can lift a bowling ball) If you are a DIYer you can install for around $700-800 with 2 or 3 hoses and all the attachments you could ever need. It has a turbo brush attachment that pulls up small stones and salt from auto carpeting easily. Came with a 5 year warranty.

Haha, yeah I currently use the leaf blower. The neighbors look at me crazy when they see me using it on the car. I probably use it more for drying than for actually what it is made for.

I have a little Metro handheld vac. Its a very high quality vacuum...but...I've never seen the reason to upgrade to their $230 wall vac over my $60 shop vac.
