I'd recommend a package like this with the Porter Cable 7424XP machine that includes 7 foam pads... a great way to save money on items that you will definitely need if you are planning to learn to machine polish.

Porter Cable 7424XP 5.5" Starter Kit
*I would recommend 2 orange pads, 2 white pads, 2 black pads, and 1 blue pad.
