How good does clear mask look after years on the road?
I am trying to decide if I should get clear bra and I wanted to ask those of you who has clear bra for more than few years, how good the film looks after all the damage it gets from the road. In other words, I have no doubts that paint under film is in great shape. The question is how well the film itself looks. I just look carefully at my wife's silver FX35 (no film and even no regular waxing) and after 85K miles and 5 years it only has very few noticeable chips and many tiny ones that are not really seen unless looking very closely right after cars is washed. Can I expect that the film will look as good after 5 years and almost 100K of highway driving?

on a dark coloured car you won't notice any colour change. Mine is 4 years old and no problems.
if it's a light colour then get the better stuff. I think I read someone got a 7 year warranty on a 3M clearbra

The clear bra will show some damage after time, particularly if you drive on the highway a lot. It won't look as bad as a front bumper that just has paint, but it will be noticeable.
Also consider the upkeep on your car as a general indicator on how well the bra will last. If you leave it outside 24-7, wash it once a month, and wax it once a year, the bra (and rest of the car) are going to age. If you are diligent in your upkeep and detailing the bra (and rest of the car) are going to look that much better with age.

I am a sales manager for a pre-owned dealership and take in alot of highline cars on trade-in with clear bra's that are typically 3-8yrs old. Every single one of them are cracking and discoloring(yellowing). One time our detail shop tried to just take it off because it was so bad and ripped off the pant of the car. Maybe the quality of the bra's have been improved since then like the 3m brand. Just like our headlights they discolor or haze due to sunlight. I think clear bra's are great for protection just as long as you take care of them and your car is garaged.
