Default good DIY painting material?

Fellers,

So i had a small mishap earlier today lol... and ill be needing to repaint my bumper... anyone know a good place to get paint? more specifically

1999 GS400 Alpine Silver.

also whats the difference between millennium Silver vs Alpine silver?

n btw ive tried Duplicolor n could not source it so might have to bust out the paint gun and air compressor tank.

Thanks

Unless you can properly cure the paint, not to mention paint properly by priming, spraying base coat, then spraying clear, this is not a DIY project. You need proper lighting, ventilation, and years of experience to do this. And you also have to worry about blending correctly to the rest of the car. Please excuse my assumption, but I'm thinking you're not a painter. If you are, then by all means, go ahead and let us know how it turns out.

There are times where you just have to know your limitations and have a professional do the job. It'll saves you time, money, and headaches in the long run.

Understood! Thanks for the headsup. The only main problem for me is the mixture/matching part since im not really familiar with that.

I'm not an expert by any means, so take this with a grain of salt, but mixing and getting paint to match on a plastic bumper is an art of sorts. You're not going to achieve perfection by simply using the paint code, especially a silver metallic... plastic cures differently and even if you used the same batch of paint used to paint the car, chances are, it won't match.

I guess it depends on how picky you are. I'm not happy with professional's work half the time, so I shudder to think what would happen if I attempted it myself.

If you're willing to take the bumper off - I bet getting it prepped and resprayed by a pro would be less than you think.

LOL

On the upside, vwynn - the owner of the Expy will buy your paint. I'm sure it was in perfect condition before he hit it, right?

Seriously though - glad you weren't hurt. Good luck with the repair.
