Default Does anyone put polish or wax on there headlight covers?

I've always applied wax or polish to the headlight covers on all my previous cars when waxing or polishing the car. (non Lexus) I have an '08 ES and noticed that there is a warning in the owners manual against applying any wax to the headlight covers. Are Lexus covers different. Never had a problem after waxing covers on previous cars.

I do. Since i've wet-sanded my old yellowed lenses, the clear plastic coating is gone, and a good sealant will keep the headlight looking clearer, longer.

not sure about wax, i assume it won't hurt but I'm not really sure, i know a lot of the SC 300/400 guys put toothpaste on the headlights to clean the yellow'ing off the outside, and obviously there's plastic cleaners like Meguiar's PlastX, etc.

I'd think some wax products may use solvents as a carrier that might cause discoloration or yellowing of the lens or even softening of the polycarbonate. I don't use any coatings on mine after heeding that warning.

I know polishing it won't harm and actually works very well on cloudy lights. But I'm still up in the air on protecting it. It never dawned on me that wax could harm them, as Jim stated. So what can one use to protect after polishing?
