New guy's first post - need opinion on wood dash kit
Hi Everyone,
First, I just wanted to thank you guys in the 3GS forum for all of the great ideas, advice, and knowledge that is posted here. I have been reading the forum for a few months now while I plan my mods and this has been very helpful.
I have a black on black '07 GS 350 and so far I have lowered it using Tein H-Techs, installed the Fujita short ram intake, and of course living in south florida had the windows tinted 15% all around.
In a week or so I am having 20" Forgiato Vizzio's installed and then will take a break for a little while. DON'T WORRY, full pics will be on the way!
What do you guys think of these wood dash kits, to complete the interior a little. Please give me some feedback on that, I know sometimes they can look cheap.
I have owned BMW's in the past and this GS blows them away. I am very happy with this awesome vehicle.

They do look cheap.
There has been NO stick-on fake-wood dash kit that has ever looked "right" on a Lexus. You can get away with it on cars without wood, but it NEVER matches the wood you have already in the car.
Not only does the wood NOT match, the gloss of the polished wood is different than the plastic gloss of the fake wood.
I would hold off until an alternative OEM trim option is available...
Welcome to CL. I don't think it looks right, from the pic.Maybe it looks better in person.I think I've seen someone in mod section have it on their ride.

Don't do it. I installed that fake wood dash kit in my 2nd gen and it was a big mistake. After about a month I started to remove it piece by piece. It may look good in the pictues but really cheap in person.

Dude...you seriously thought about doing that :eek1 :
welcome to cl where others opinions mean nothing... as its your car so go for it. but look forward to seeing pics with new shoes on your ride
the pic of the 2nd gen with it scared me too
I know Junction Produce of Japan has some wood accents. I was looking through a catalog the other day. I think they have the interior door handles and the buttons on the steering wheel available in wood trim.
Ill be honest , I was wondering how they would look as well. Soundes like I should pass. Ive ordered custom carbon fiber pieces for the dash of the G35 car show I used to own and I thought that looked awesome, but there was nothing that needed to match. Thanks for the tip
