Cost to swap to a 2jz?
Was wondering about how much all the required parts would cost me to swap a 2jzgte with a 5sp into my 92 sc4. Have seen many posts about swapping, but never about how much it cost to do it and have been thinking about swapping since the 2jz is better capable to having better mods done to it.

There is alot of threads about this subject !! but it's cool we'll add your thread to one of them.
It really depends on who does the swap and how much you are willing to spend it can go anywhere from $5k to $15k really depending on how deep you wanna get into it.
It gets really expensive quickly it's not a cheap setup when you have to pay and get the work done.

My plan was to just get a stock 2jz and drop it in with a 5-speed. Then later build the motor and add a turbo system. Seen the 2jz engine go for around $2000 along with an auto tranny. And then adding in all the other parts needed to get it hooked up I can see ur price range of 5-15k easy

I second that. If you decide to do it, do it right the first time. Don't half do any of it. I am in the middle of doing the swap now. Check out the link in my signature. It costs more to do it in a 400 instead of a 300. Due to cluster, pedals, clutch resevoir, etc. GL

I think that doing a turbo system on my 1uz could possibly cost the same as doing a swap. Mainly because a lot of what ive found is custom parts. But I havent put in a lot of research into that yet. Lately ive been searching on whats up with my car.

The 1uz is very expensive. That's what I wanted to do first until I priced parts and talk to scotturnot on the phone. Bring your checkbook is all I can say on what I found in larts and such. Use the same headers just turn them around and build from there. GL on your decision.

People always say " it's cheap " no it's not cheap if you wanna do once and never have to getting in there and changing water pump and other seals.
This is a junkyard motor so you will have to replace the maintenance item for them to convert it under warranty in case something happen.
Regardless its a used engine so i will tear is down to the oil pan atleast to see what am working with.
it gets really expensive when you decided to do custum exhaust, bov,usdm cams,intercooler and pipings ,gauges, clutch, rear diff.
always do the maintenance while the engine is out , it will cave you alot of headaches.

I have been doing the research for close to 2 years now. THE LITTLE THINGS ADD UP!!!
HOW TO AVOID LITTLE THINGS.....
Spend a little more on a SUPRA 2jzgte instead of an Aristo 2jzgte because you won't have to modify the Oil pan and a few other little things and will be more of a drop in application.
Im doing the full V160 swap as well so more little things tend to add up from the rear end, to axle, and driveshaft. I say go big or go home. If you start off with the ultimate platform, you won't hate yourself later. However, if you want to spend less and still handle the power, do the R154 and either 3.27 or 3.77 Rear end.
I plan to save up a little more as I keep the motor close to stock for a while and then WHAM $15k Towards big single and 900hp.

I find the go big or don't bother a little distressing. Some of us just want an awesome streeter and we are not looking for the ultimate in track performance. You can spend $15k on a swap or an Altima, which would you rather have? OTOH you can swap in a highly compatible motor for $2k and leg into the rest. I think many of the Forum members have legged into their full blown setups in stages. There seems to be an active classified section for moving from Stage 1 up so the labor is a total loss but the parts aren't.
