but isn't it better that you have the 2j powerplant?? and in an sc can you change the tranny without removing the engine?? or would it be easier to pull the whole damn thing?? and can you "*****-foot" 400whp on a w58??
I agree with 1jz/R154. Sucks to worry about your trans every time you slam a gear and dump the clutch. I dont think the 2jz has enough advantage over the 1jz to worry about until you are at power levels that the R154 wont support anyways..

I wouldn't slam gears in a r154 but thats just me.
A BPU 2j on stock twins will put down 400+ which would cover my goal with an SC or MK3 supra and leave room for improvement. Thats why I like the idea of a 2j.
but "there is no replacement for displacment" right 3.0 vs 2.5
I guess you could say that. The question is, would 600-700hp be enough for you? If so, there is no reason a 1JZ wont get you there just as easily as a 2J. I would worry less about engine and more about tranny.

This is definitely true if you can find some USDM twins and fuel to support them.
Engine and tranny are mutually exclusive. Get whatever you can afford and deal within your constraints.
With that being said, your best bet is to first select the R154 transmission and then figure what you can afford, 1JZ or 2JZ. That simple. Both motors can get you into W58 implosion territory.
w58 will not last long with the 2jzgte if your power hungry.
sorry took me awhile to reply back cause my internet is off but yeah i know if your power hungry it wont last long but at least 300-400 im happy with it.
