Michelin Cross Terrain Discontinued
Thats what every tire place has told me........being replaced with Latitude Touring...........Anybody else have thoughts on a tire replacement. I have about 5000 miles of tread left on my cross terrains. This sucks as the cross terrains were quiet and gave great winter traction.

Yes they have been. They are great tires. Last I checked Tire Rack still had them in stock and they were offering a $60 Visa Prepaid card if you buy 4.
I have a ways to go before I need to replace my CTs, but I am optimistic the Latitude will offer similar driving/traction performance. The Latitude actually looks a little more agressive.

my GX came with dunlops and i replaced them with the michelin latitude tours. they seemed to ride and perform similar to the oem tires and i would recommend them.

Recently while I was negotiating for my tires to be replaced, I had 2 choices , Bridgestone or the Michelin Cross Terrain for the GX, I finally decided stick to the BGs as he gave me a better offer. I beleive Tire rack would still have them, pick them before they run out. On my wify's LS460 I just replaced the Michelin Pilot standard with Michelin Pilot P235/50R18 97V large . They are much better , absolutely quiet, better road grip. I dont even hear the large truck whooshing past, excellent foam for sound deafening. !

I'd be very upset if they do - I planned on replacing the Dunflops with CTs later this year.
I have the CTs on my 4Runner, and really love these tires. I looked at the Latitude Touring on Tirerack, they seem to be getting very good reviews. But the experience with them is limited to less than 1 mil miles, so I would wait on them.
My other option would be GY Fortera TripleTred. I know that they may be noisy, but that's what the sound system is for.

I have the Michelin latitude touring on my Infinity EX35 AWD (wifes mini-SUV), and they seem to be great tires, they handle good and are very quiet. Comparing them side by side they seem to be less aggressive looking to me, they do have a bit more more siping, but have less spacing between the center lugs. I had driven this car last winter thru an MN ice/snow storm, at higher than reccomended speeds for a couple of hrs and I was very amazed how stable the cars was. Now maybe it was the car or the tires but they worked great together. This being said I would still be concerned about buying these to replace my CT's on my GX as I do need dirt/rock traction and I don't feel they would good for that occasional need. If you don't have that requirement and just need an all-season tire, I'd guess they'd be great. Note, the GX is a lot heavier and they may react very differently.

How long did the Cross Terrains last for you?
My GX is ready for new tires. I replace the factory tires at 30K. The car now has 54K and it is ready for new ones. Does that sound right to you guys? I don't mind, but it seems that I should get more. There is no way I can drive safely with these tires when snow starts packing. Other than that, these tires are the best.

Why mess with perfection? Always used the Cross-Terrains. I have them on my GMC Envoy as well, great tires. I might buy (4) and store them for my GX. I would think the price would drop on discontinued tires- Not the Michelin CT

Purchased 4 Michelin LTX A/T2 for my '04 GX470 that needed tires pretty bad (2 nails in each of the back 2 tires and front tires with low low low tread). I live in Colorado, not the mountains, but they're phenomenal for the weather I've got out here. Quiet as can be (given their use) and grip well. I recommend them.
