Default Carpet Protection in Winter LS460

OK all you OCD guys like me. Here is my latest invention in carpet protection for this blizzard of a winter. Contractor garbage bag cut open and taped to the door jamb painted areas with wrestling mat tape. Here is the photo and here is where to get the tape (that won't pull off the paint..it's more like a "Colorforms" friction adherence). Been installed for two nasty weeks now and is working well.

WOW- That's pretty serious- does it really get to be too much that the all weather mats are not enough? I thought I was OCD! My weather tech's seem to do the trick, but then again with your light interior.....

There is NO MAT that can protect the feet areas in the driver's side with this heavy snow.

The heated garage is my winter protection! Mine has left the garage once since early December (Virginia has been terrible this year.) It's just too nice of a car to subject to the salt and such.

That said - that's a creative setup. Very nice!

I used to drive a beater in the winter, but as I've aged I want the luxury, safety and confort of my LS even in shyttie weather. That's why I traded my 7 for an 9AWD. But it does accelerate the wear and tear a little I agree.

I think I'd just get a WeatherTech custom cut mat package and be done. I couldn't stand looking at that ugly bag. Another option is to move South and avoid the snow! The seat cover has got to go. I'm sorry, but that is so 1980's Oldsmobile cutlass supreme.

The "seat cover" is an authentic Rocky Mountain Lambskin, custom made to fit exactly. Do not knock it until you try it. Warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Fabulously comfortable. I'll never NOT have one again.

The Weather Tech stuff STILL doesn't keep the snow from seeping into the joints and melting underneath the mat. With weather like this, big chunks of snow can and do easily get whacked all over the driver's feet area. Weather tech is good, but my system is total protection.

Seat covers may be somewhat nice, but they are SO "I'm an 90 year old grandpa". They can also damage the leather seat. I've seen some fairly severe damage from seat and steering wheel covers (also ugly). LS seats are already some of the most comfortable seats in any car, so why you would need anything on top is beyond me!

Quite frankly, the LS460 is a "90 year old grandpa" car. I accept that and even embrace it, even though I am only 49. Heck, I drove Lincoln Town Cars and Cadillac Fleetwood Broughams from age 24 to 30!

My experience with the leather is exactly the opposite. After 3 years, my 2004 LS430 was traded in and the seat underneath was like brand new. The leather was fine. The dealer was thrilled (not that I really cared) and it helped make my deal/resale.

Beyond you? It's beyond you because you haven't tried it. I am telling you that the sheepskin IMPROVES the comfort. At least in my humble "old man" opinion!

The LS460 is only a grandpa car if you make it one. I would have to say that you have been successful with this venture.

Tough crowd, eh Daryll? LOL

If I -had- to drive it in the winter, I'd do exactly the same.
