Thumbs up ******* Famoso Private Track Rental - 11/21/2009 *******

Hi everyone.... I am new to the Lexus forums but not new to car forums in general. I mainly post at mbworld. I am organizing a private track rental at Famoso Raceway on the 21st. I've done this event 4 times throughout the last 2 years with great turn out. Famoso is normally closed down from October to March, but as a favor to me, the owner has allowed me the opportunity to organize a private rental. As you already know, the temperature and DA are much better in November especially at Famoso, which is perfect for creating personal bests. Also, because this is a private rental, one will be able to make as many passes as they can handle with virtually no waiting time. I made over 30+ passes in my car last time . Although the list is now full and closed, I would be willing to allow a few lexus owners to join us just to get some lexus participation and a good variety into the mix.

The event is $200 per car + $6 PayPal fees for a total of $206 per car. Yes, I know.... Famoso is one of the expensive tracks, but it is well worth it. Just for comparison, on open night test-n-tune, I used to wait 7 hours for 3 runs (and that's of course assuming no one breaks down)

If you are interested, please PM me the following info:

1) Full Name (as it appears on driver's license). This will be used by track employees for admission at the gates.
2) E-mail
3) Phone Number (in case I need to get hold of you for last minute changes or updates).

Thanks and hope to see a couple of lexus join us

Here is my original post from the other forums....

Ladies and gentlemen,

It is this time of year again.... I have reserved Famoso Raceway 1/4 mile drag strip on November 21st for our exclusive use. We will have both lanes available to us as well as full use of the entire facility including the barbecue grills . The track is normally closed from September to February except for a few exceptions.... but I was lucky enough to convince the owner to grant us an opportunity for a private event .

Last time the event was limited to 35 cars (not including the 3 different waiting lists); this time, we will open the event up to a few more cars based on demand. Spots will be given on a first-sign-up-first-serve-basis, so please don't add your name unless you know for sure that you will be attending, as I would like to try and get an accurate count this time.

The payment per car has just been determined.... it will be $200 + $6 PayPal fee = $206 per car. Yes, I know.... Famoso (unfortunately) is one of the expensive tracks. But remember, this is a private event. So there will be virtually no waiting at the staging lines and you can run unlimited times. Last time out, I made 34 passes in my car. I got to practice different launch techniques, shifting, etc.... Please note that payment should be submitted no later than November 15th, as I have to meet with the owner on November 16th to give him payment, a list of participants, and finalize a few things.

Now for the good news.....

During regular months when Famoso is available to the public, the weather is terrible for racing: it gets way too hot and way too humid. In November, however, the weather is much cooler and so we'll have better DA and better chance of good times. Instead of trying to race very early in the morning (to get optimum conditions), we will start later in the day and stop 1 to 2 hour AFTER sunset (depending on conditions of course). At Famoso, right after sunset, temps drop very fast and so does DA..... hopefully with very low temps and really good DA, we'll get an awesome day of racing

Spectators are welcomed. I think there maybe a cover charge of $10 per spectator. However, a maximum of 60 spectators will be allowed based on a sign-up sheet. The sheet should be up 3 to 4 days before the event.... probably right after all participant lists have been finalized.

Guys, this is NOT a competition..... everyone on the list is going there to have a fun day at the track and o it in a more "private" setting instead of going to an open night test n tune where you would wait 7 to 8 hours for 3 runs and have over 400 cars waiting to run. The purpose of this event is to actually enjoy your car safely and legally at a decent track. That being said, I can tell you that the goals of almost everyone attending is to beat their own personal best and so there will hardly be any head-to-head races.

The list is officially closed and there are 7 people on the waiting list, but I'm willing to open the a couple of positions up just to get some Lexus into the mix. Please PM me if you're interested.

I was about to sign up over on mbworld but prior plans take precedence. Good news is my W211 will be over 600hp for the next event.
