I just want to report the 2009 update works fine with my 2001 RX300 which has the original 2000 ver.1 DVD.
The DVD I'm using is Lexus part # PT219-GEN23-09
Just eject the old DVD and pop in the new one, takes about 1 minute to update the system.
Becareful the map zone might default to other states which will cause destination icons to gray out, make sure to swicth back to the state you are in from " Search Area ".
The official Lexus MSRP for 2009 update DVD is only $199, you can find it at sponsor reseller website with coupon code to save few bucks.

So you got version 9.1 already? Do you still have to hit the "Agree" button upon bootup, or they removed that? What about override?
I just found out about this override feature. I cannot make it work on my 2003 Generation 2 unit.
Instructions:
Press Menu
Volume
Upper Left, Lower Left, Upper Left, Lower Left
Hold Override
This is not working for me. I do not see a service menu after the upper/lower sequence. Am I to try something different?
These instructions are for a Gen4, for a Gen2 it's different. I can't remember for sure, but I think you hit MENU, then hit DVD in the upper right corner, then when in the DVD menu touch the left, lower left, upper left, lower left, then lower right. In the Diag menu touch and hold GPS. Do not mess with any of the other menus in Diag.
Gen 2/3 V9.1 override did not work for me too. The override is done by pressing Menu--DVD then move the cursor up, down, up, down and then right....it's definitely gone from the V9.1
Also what's interesting is it also updates the firmware and removed my override capability in the version 8.1.

This is probably a dumb question but I have a 2002 RX300 and am not sure how to eject the disc for the NAV. Also does anyone know if 86271-33035 will work on this model? And FYI - everything in the car is the original so I don't believe the system has been updated since the factory.
I'm a newbie and my wife really wants her nav upgraded for her birthday on October 1st so any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
TechServ08:
This should work for your 2002 RX300
2010 10.1 update disk for GEN 2 and 3 Lexus Part #: PT219GEN2310
To remove the disk, try access spare tire in the trunk, remove the jack. The NAV disk unit is on the right side of the jack.
slide the disk eject switch to (left or right? can't remember) and hold to eject the disk.

Thanks for the info RX, I found the drive in the trunk last night now I just need to get the disk. - now if I wanted to get an update (not necessarily the latest) where could I go looking for it? I know eBay but.... that costs.
Again thanks for the info. And let me know via the board or PM.
