Just installed the Grom USB unit into my 2006 GS and wow!!! It works. How great it performs, I have yet to find out. It recognizes the unit as 6 disks and can play up to 99 sonds each disk. Artists and titles are displayed. The sound quality is great. I chose the Grom unit over the Vais due to the price tag of $130....Will post pics and further reviews later...
Only using this baby for a USB stick. There is a port for the Ipod, but you need the cable. I'm not an ipod guy.
So far so good. Little quirks like some time when you start up the car, it doesn't recognize. two ways to fix this: one is to turn on and off the car and two reinsert the stick. Second thing is scrolling through 99 songs sucks, so I just leave it on random and jump around. Better to have multiple sticks depending how vast your collection. Overall...pretty damn happy with it. 6 discs is not enough.
The audio quality sounds better than the future mother of my children!!!
I'm using this GROM-USB2-TOY device on my 2006 GS300 AWD with ML & NAV.
If you use the up / down disc select buttons on the lower bottom right of the center stack you can access up to 99 virtual 'disc' directories of 99 tracks each. (tested up to only 20 so far) Just noticed the newly updated firmware release on the GROM Audio site. Have yet to try the iPod or AUX input. Looks like the new firmware may address mode switching issues. Worth trying to fix the start up problem tha obf mentioned above as I've had that problem also.

ISSUES I seem to have is the USB stick is not recognized when you turn on the car. I found myself unplugging the GROM unit from time to time to reboot it and that means taking off the center console shifter cover. What a bummer. I've even updated the firmware 9.2.09.
Hey BOBTECH...how did you get around this problem?
Think I'll fix this problem by hooking up a switch to the power wire. When working, this thing is great. Bobtech was right. It will recognize more than 6 disks. I've created 17 disks on the stick. So this unit should recognize 99 disks with 99 songs each. Pretty cool. Will let you know what happens with the reset/power switch.
maybe try to unplug the USB stick when you shut off the car. then wait a few min for everything to power up/cycle then plug in your USB stick. I had a similar issue with something else that was USB and this seemed to solve the issue. Hope this works.
