Default F-Sport Sway bar problem!!!

Hi,

As, I had purchased F-Sport Sway Bar Kit for my IS250 RWD 2008. I just went to install them yesterday and the local dealer notify that the rear was not fit my car. The F-Sport Rear Sway Bar do not have a blend curve in the middle like OEM. So, it can't install with my car because it have a curve of spare tire from the rear trunk.

So, will they have any problem to install only F-Sport Front Sway-Bar without Rear Sway-Bar. (Just using OEM Rear Sway Bar)

Best Regard,
Golf

Hmmm...I don't understand. All the documentation I've seen says it should. Here's the scoop from Sewell.

F-Sport 2IS Rear Sway Bar - 19MM - PTR02-53080-01

This includes a set of larger diameter, replacement rear sway bar that offers reduced body roll and flatter cornering. Urethane mounting bushings are also included to replace the original rubber bushings.

* Material: High strength steel bar formed in a CNC machine - forged bar ends
* 19mm diameter solid bar
* Special high durometer dry lube impregnated rubber bushings - 75 durometer hardness
* 81 N/mm

** Applicable to IS-F, IS250/IS350 RWD and IS250 AWD. **

He might have another version with a different trunk. I remember reading before that some people that got the Middle Eastern version had difficulty getting Hotchki's sway bars to fit, and it's probably same for this too.

So sad. I think my car is the same version which sell in Singapore.

The local dealer only install the F-Sport front sway-bar. Will they have any problem to run only the F-Sport Front Sway-Bar.

It just won't be the best for handling. You'll understeer because of the stiffer front bar.

Will F-Sport Rear Chassis Member Brace help anything about the rear stiffer?

It'll make the rear stiffer and make the rear ~10 lbs or so heavier, but won't change the body lean.

The following link show the compare of stiffness increase between IS250 RWD and F-Sport Sway Bar Set.

Front : increase 46.6%
Rear : increase 6.3%

http://www.fsport.com/assets/pdf/F-Sport_Brochure.pdf

So, if the information was correct, my car which install the F-Sport Front Sway Bar + F-Sport Under Chassis Member Brace will work properly?

Sorry to hear about your problem. I've never heard of a different trunk However, you may want to try and get the rear bar from an ISF. This bar does have the double bend in it like the normal ISX50 bar. The stock front ISF bar is 28.6mm like the F-Sport bar (they are the same bar). The rear F-Sport bar is 19mm vs the ISF bar at 17mm. The stock ISX50 rear bar is 15mm. I sold my ISF bar, when I upgraded to the F-Sport rear, and the new owner was very happy with it. Good Luck.

Also, the numbers you pulled from the F-Sport website I believe were a typo. The F-Sport sway bar that I got installed was a tad bit more than 6% stiffer.. haha
The IS-F Rear sway bar sounds like a good idea though.

When you install the rear sway bar, if you are on a jack, you will need to lower the jack a bit so that the suspension will compress. This will give you room to connect the sway bar. I had the same issue when I install my rear bars. My jack was up too high so the bolt on the car and sway bar wouldn't line up. After lowering the jack a bit everything lines up. Give it a try.

It seems u bankok guys got the same prob us IS300 middle east guys have
the US and japan have a spare tire, we have a full tire in trunk and thus the larger mould for the tire

JUN TW's rear sway bar fits out car, its flat like the oem one, its cheap too and works great

Correct!!

Any 2IS with the Full Size Spare in the NON USA Market, will have a deeper spare tire comparment to accomodate the Full Rim & Tire..

SO basically, the straight F-Sport Rear Sway Bar or Hotchkis Rear Sway Bar will NOT fit on those cars..

Lou brings up a great option to pick up a used OEM IS-F rear sway bar which has the bends in place...

Hopefully, it will work on your NON US Spec IS250 with Full Size spare tire compartment..

Regards,

Joe Z
