I am doing final touches on the sale of my 250 tomorrow. I want a 350, new if the price is right. Does anyone know when the year end sale goes on? Anyone with experience and bought their 350 at the end of the year? How much did they mark down?

I know there is a thread about the price paid vs. MSRP, but the purchases were made throughout the year and not necessarily at the end of the year.

Could someone please chime in with their experience and expertise

Yes I purchased a brand new 2009 IS 350 very recently. With premium/Nav/rear spoiler/tint (no ML though) I snatched it for $41,500 OTD

My father previously purchased his LS 460 at this dealership, so we were a return buyer.

Our strategy was rather simple - print out edmunds true market value and invoice pricing of a base IS 350 with no options and argue that we want that price.

I don't know if 41,500 is a terrific deal for the options I described but it was well under MSRP at least.

also, do you think the IS convertables would drive/easier to deal with the regular IS350s?

 

The MSRP was about $3000 more than the OTD price I purchased at, so I got $3000 off MSRP.

If you go to edmunds.com, you'll see that (for a base) the MSRP is $36,755 and the Invoice is $33,078 (difference of $3677)

the "what others are paying" "TMV" price is higher and the differential between the TMV and the MSRP is in the 2000s.

In that regard, getting $3000 off MSRP is a great deal. Actually we tried to deal even more and the salesman eventually (politely) brought up the "fact" that obviously he can't sell the car at invoice else he wouldn't be making a profit.

I'd like to say though that this is a load of hogwash. He claimed that they didn't get any "dealer incentives" or anything like that but there is absolutely no way that a dealership can survive when they are making just "~$500" profit on aa $40,000+ car.

I've heard of people buying certain vehicles below invoice. I'm not sure if this is possible with Lexus, but I do know that I'm not naiive enough to buy into their assertion that the "only" profit they make is profit above invoice.



By the way I have no hard feelings against the guy, he's a great salesman and I understand his desire for profit. Who can blame him?



I think it would be easier to deal with the regular IS 350s because my guess is that the convertible IS 350s are in higher demand right now, but don't quote me on that.

To be brutally honest, I would personally prefer a regular IS 350 over an IS 350 convertible.

I do not like the look of the IS350c (from the back mainly) at all, especially with the top up. It looks far too bloated for my liking.

The mean/sleek look of the regular IS x50 is far superior in my opinion.

 

you might be able to get deals towards the end of the month while the dealer needs quota....

aug and dec are the best months. if you can wait until end of aug thats probably the best time before the year ends.

 

Sweet man. I was originally in the market for a used IS 350 and ended up with a brand new '09. Couldn't be happier. There's definitely a certain panache to driving a brand spankin' new vehicle.


Haha the only "problem" is that all of my "mod money" was used up in having to come up with all the extra $$$ for the brand new 2009 IS 350 versus a used one.

 

Never bought a IS350 bought at the end of the year in FEB my car was a 08 left over and stickered for 33,500 sold for 28,000!!!! I think that was a steal for a brand new Lexus.

 

I would some thought to looking into Costco's or Sam's Club auto buying program. The price they negotiate might surprise you. It did when I bought my sister's Honda Odyssey minivan for her. It was an incredible deal.

 

I got mine at the very end of December last year. Black '08 IS350, everything (front parking/spoiler/blah blah blah) but no ML... $37k. But it did take going to a second dealer to get that price. The first one told me I was out of my mind. The second guy didn't think so.

 

I still think the IS350 is the wrong car to look for an amazing deal on, at least if it's new. There are exceptions, but the dealers seem to be less willing to have huge reductions in price on the 350 v. 250.

The IS250 is a dime a dozen, and they're dealing on them similar to the RX because they're on every street corner and they keep tons in stock. However, the 350 is still a bit more rare, and they seem to understand that most people buying them are "car guys" that get emotionally involved.
