Hello Everyone!
My father and i are trying to remove the rear spoiler on his RX400h. I am visiting my parents in Russia and my father decided to replace the brake light in the spoiler. A few weeks ago he was backing out of the garage and hit the top of the door that has not retracted all the way yet. He is used to driving his GS450h that is much lower. He ended up scratching the spoiler and busting the brake light.
There is really no need to remove the spoiler to replace the light but one of the bolts that holds the spoiler is stripped and totally rusted to the spoiler. We want to remove the spoiler and try to remove the bolt.
We got all the bolts loose but the spoiler is still connected somewhere.
If anyone has a diagram of where the bolts are please help us out.
You will have to remove the spoiler to get to the bolt you are talking about. The spoiler is bolted from the inside. You will have to remove all the garnish to get to the bolts.
Mandy,
Great instructions!! Am considering having my spoiler painted to match exterior. One question: Does the door and rear glass trim panels snap on or are they attached with screws beneath the little black plugs? Just don't want to start pulling them off. They want $400 to remove, paint, and reinstall. Think I can save $ by removing and reinstalling myself.
Thanks.
How do you remove the hatch door trim? I found some instructions that say to just pull down, but I'm afraid of breaking something. Is there an easier way?
We figured it out. The spoiler has two plastic prongs that hold it in place when all the bolts are taken out. So we just pulled on it harder and it poped off. The garnish is all on clips. You just pull on it and it comes off. Dont be afraid they are very strong.

Man $400 is way too much for a small job !! I only paid $150 for the same job
and they color match the exterior paint. Check around other body shops before committing to it, let them know this is a out of your own pocket expense and not an insurance claim
Thanks a lot. All of you are right at $400 being too much. I covered the spoiler with a white towel and it didn't look as well as I had expected with all the black rails and crossbars along with the black window exterior treatment. It will probably remain black. The top rails became the focal point when looking at the vehicle. Yuk!!
