I have never really had my third row seats in my vehicle. The day after purchase I removed them and kind of just forget about them. This weekend I am taking a group to the Mavs/Nuggets playoff game(GO MAVS!) in Dallas and to save on parking we are going to all load into my GX. So yesterday I put just one of my third row seats in my GX and jumped in to get a feel for how it sits.
OMG....what is up? Is this a Lexus joke? Did I do something wrong? Does anyone really ever use those things? I mean there is virtually no foot room at all. I can't imagine if both third row seats were there how cramped one would feel? Are the third row seats just for children? Can you say "claustrophobia"?
That's too funny!!!...because that what I do when she comes to town.
Its impossible to put adults in 3rd row seat. I think its design like you mention for mother in law. I tried Audi Q7 and it has even less space on 3rd row seat. Atleast Lexus 2nd row seats fold back.
And to think they even went through the trouble to put 3 seatbelts back there! One person who can stretch out like a sofa is all that can really fit for adults. The sad part is that almost all of us got the 3rd row seats, just so we could have rear AC unit and controls.
We occasionally stuff two pre-teen children back there... right now they think it's fun, but I doubt we'd make them sit back there for more than an hour or so...
Prior to buying our GX, we looked at an Land Rover LR3, and the third row seats were actually usable by adults... unfortunately, the reliability was not there... thus, the GX...
After I bought my CPO GX470, I found my 2nd row seats are very clean just like new, but the 3rd row seats were definitely occupied.
When I opened the back storage, it was full of candy, toy, carton pictures, etc, I was laughing at that, and I can also imagine the 3rd row seat can give kids very private space and feeling.
