Hey guys, I'm selling some classic Lexus brochures to help fund the purchase of more brochures for my online archive located here: www.toyotareference.com
The price is $20 per brochure, including shipping. My PayPal address is: darren@darrendriven.com
Here are the Lexus brochures that I currently have for sale:
Are you seriously trying to profit off of something that is given to consumers for free? I have 4 of those brochures in my bathroom next to my toilet.
PROFIT? Are you CRAZY? I have spent over $1500 of my own money buying these so I can scan them JUST SO EVERYONE ON THE NET can view them for free without having to buy them! Damn, comments like that make me want to slap someone. AnimalB, you are a real jerk.
On top of that, many of the older Toyota brochures that I have are very rare -- regardless of them being free 30-40 years ago -- and it took foresight and energy to carefully preserve them for a long period of time. I have spent up to $30 at a bookstore to buy a particular brochure for the archive, and I didn't whine about how the brochure was free in the first place so they should just give it to me.
To repeat, I am selling these brochures for $20 including shipping in order to buy more brochures so I can scan them and make them available to everyone for free. I don't see any way that I will ever profit from my site, I do it as a Toyota/Lexus enthusiast and am simply trying to provide a way for people who might want to help me financially by providing them with a reward if they make a $20 donation.
Cry me a river. Bottom line is your selling car brochures. If you are doing everyone a service and scanning them so people can view them for FREE....why are you worried about selling them for 20 dollars? Sure looks like you have sparked a ton of interest from people.
I thought that it would be interesting to be able to view online every year brochure for every Lexus (and Toyota and Scion) brought to the US. Most of the 600+ brochures that I have scanned for this project were loaned to me by enthusiasts, including some from Club Lexus. I didn't realize that I was going to have to buy as many as I have, though. At $10-30 per brochure, the money adds up very quickly and, as I said before, I have spent about $1500 purchasing brochures simply so I could scan them.
What do you propose, that I should simply give the brochures away? I worked hard to earn the money in the first place, then I spend some of it to better the enthusiast community. All I ask is that a few people support my efforts by buying some of the brochures that I have already scanned. They don't HAVE to buy them, in fact they could simply view the pages for free on my site.
What is your goal with trying to rip me down here? Do you think I'm going to give you a free brochure now? Get a life.

don't take what he says personally, some people like buying things like this, why do you think people pay loads of money for old glass bottles and rare baseball cards for thousands of dollars when they first sold for 25 cents. Goodluck with your collection and sales
