Joined the Vespa forum to wish Josh well and discuss this....there.
I ride a motorcycle, not a Vespa, but that is irrelevant.
Josh was almost killed today and it should not just disappear off this site.

ExTrEmE99, from the skidmarks on the hwy, he was going very fast. Your group kept together pretty well right? Unless this guy was leading, you were ALL going pretty damn fast down that road.
Update on Josh from the Vespa forum-
"This just in from April...
I just got back from the hospital. Josh is out of surgery and will
likely stay at the hospital for a few days. He is doing well for
someone who took on a Lexus head-on and we're lucky that he didn't
sustain more damage.
What he did sustain was a broken femur that pierced his skin, a
seriously dislocated wrist and numerous lacerations, some deep.
The doctors told Katie that the femur break was very clean and went
back together well. They expect him to be able to put weight on it
within a week. Imagine that. However, he will likely have to undergo
therapy to walk. It could take 3-6 months to get back to normal.
The good news is that the police gave us the impression that the Lexus
driver was totally at fault. While those on the ride who saw the
accident knew that already, it's good to get that echoed by the
police. Hopefully the driver was well-insured. For those who have not
heard- on a curvy uphill area of Hwy 9, a driver crossed the line and
hit Josh head-on. The car came to a stop just before the shoulder
facing the wrong way in the wrong lane.
Josh is at the Regional Medical center at McKee & Jackson. Visiting
hours are until 9pm, but I forgot to see when they begin.
Josh will need help in the coming months. Some may just be mental
support, some may be financial support. A helicopter flight to the
hospital can't be cheap. So, I hope that we can lend both spiritual
and financial support when we can. I'll submit a request to Scooter
Relief.org. Perhaps we can do a fundraiser of some sort to help out.
I'm sure that Josh is thankful for all of the care and assistance that
everyone gave today. It was very inspiring to me to see how so many
people; including the scooterists, drivers who stopped with first aid
kits, motorcyclists who directed traffic and the emergency services
personnel all came together with the one goal to help another in
distress.
I'll post information as I find out more.

just to clear some things up about the event, it was not a drifting event... rather a scenic drive among lexus enthusiasts.... our intention of this meet was to meet, greet each other and enjoy a nice day cruising...
it is unfortunate something like this happened.. and our prayers are with josh for a speedy recovery.

I read about it on a UK forum and an East Coast US forum.
You say that bad driving within your group meets is rewarded by members being penalised.
Well, the kid that caused this may not have been drifting, but he drove beyond the limits one could safely drive for the conditions. Your group must be seen to be punishing him for ignoring your cruise rules.
He was very lucky that his out of control driving didn't injure more riders. Unfortunately, it was Josh that was injured, and might I add, badly injured.
I suggest you let the 2wheeled riders of the world know what your going to do to discourage drivers on your cruises from behaving this same way, in the future? What action are you taking against this driver?

Posts are not 'disappearing off the site'. However I do ask everyone who visits our forum to read and pay attention to our forum rules . We enforce them strictly and there have been a couple of folks who joined to post threats, sweeping accusations or personal attacks - these will not be tolerated and will be removed, along with the membership of those who post or respond to them.
I've asked moderators not personally involved in this incident to keep watch on the posts in this area. I would also ask for those who did not personally observe the incident to refrain from speculation; this is clearly a very serious issue for everyone involved in it. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.

Best wishes to Josh and let's make sure this doesn't happen again on any road, any car club in country.
PS- dang even on a new site people still add the extra "i".
This is a question for law enforcement as they investigate the incident. To my knowledge, the Lexus driver involved is not a member of our community although they know or are related to members here.
If this club/forum wants to really help, how about doing a fund raiser.
Hopefully this can be prevented in the future for all cruises for every automotive community since this affects every type of car enthusiast.
