Braking clunk or clap noise FIX
My car would make a clunk or clap noise when I would reverse, brake, drive fowrad and brake(clap). I needed new brake pads for the front so I decided it was a good time to get that problem fixed.
Just go to the dealership and buy a new fitting kit for your brake pads. It includes new retainers and springs for the front brakes. Problem solved.
Part# 04947-50030 ($20-$30) <~~~~Part# for 1998 SC300. Check part# before you buy at dealer.

i don't have a clunk/clap noise when moving from forward to reverse like u said but my noise happens when i drive over cracks / bumps in the road surface. the abrupt movement causes a metal clunk/clap sound coming from the front driver wheel, if i have my foot on the brake and go over the same bump i don't here this noise.
any suggestions? do u think its the same problem?

I don't think the rear pads would have this problem since most of the braking power is in the front. I doubt that the rear fitting kit shares the same part number as the front since the rear pads are much smaller in size overall.
As for tttp5, I am not sure what your problem may be. You might want to just check to see if all the bolts on your drivers front suspension are tight to see if anything is loose.
