How hard would it be to put a Recaro seat in a 2IS?
I was wondering how hard and how much it would cost to put a recaro racing seat in our 2IS. I am looking for either a race type seat or even a power recaro seat like the ones that come standard in a Audi S4 (my previous S4 had them and they were 100x better than the lexus' seats).
I love the seats in the IS. However, they are probably close to 100 lbs so putting in some recaros or sparcos would save a lot of weight.
Regardless the issues I see:
1. seat rails. If the 2is is using new seat rails, it'll take a while for the manufacturers to fab new rails. If you have them custom made, then you're adding a lot more $.
2. electrical concerns: I don't know if there are any airbags in the seat itself but if there are, you will have to find a way to trick the system or you will probably have to put up with an error code.
Recaro's are awesome seats, so assuming you could find a model that fit it would be fairly easy swap but remember you would be giving up your side airbags in the exchange. Also I don't know how a missing side airbag would effect the balance of the IS's safety equipment, the integration of the systems is pretty elaborate these days.
Also, anyone who has ever had his (or her) head between a pair of augmented breasts knows that they are better appreciated from afar. And no responses to this comment please, I don't want to get in a tit for tat situation on this board.
Yea I dont know why your hating. I just have a list of stuff on my car. MAYBE someone might have a question about something I have that I can help with.
Well like I said, I loved my Audi S4 seats. I sell cars for a living and have sat in many many cars and nothing is more comfortable and sporty at the same time than those recaros.
Recaros are nice but I may just go with a bride, sparco, to save some money and reduce the overall weight. I am probably going with a straight manual seat, I dont have to have a power seat it would be nice if it were though.
