Default DIY Brake and Rotor Guide

Has anyone posted a DIY guide for brakes & rotor replacement and/or is there a "Chilton's" guide available for purchase?

No Chilton's, the field service manual is ~$160, here's a link to some tutorials for LS400, the brakes are the same as the GS.

It's not that hard, I did a DIY brake job with my 16 year old son, made him do all the work, he didn't have any trouble.

After finding the FAQ I think Im going to replace mine. Although to paint the calipers the G2 kit recommends having all four tires removed. Which will not be possible in my drive way. I wonder if I can just remove all four calipers and put the wheels back on with the calipers off.. Then paint the calipers and let them dry for 24 hours, then put the rotors+calipers+pads on.

What FAQ are you referring to?

I NEED SOME HELP!!! I just pulled the caliper off and the DIY guide says to remove two screws holding the front rotor on. I dont have two screws. I see two threaded holes but no screws. I tried looking at the guide for the rears and one of his pictures clearly shows two screws holding the rear rotor on. Do we have front screws for ours?

once you remove the caliper, all you need to do is remove the rotor, there shouldn't be any screws holding it in place (might be different for a GS3, but i doubt it) also, that G2 paint kit, even though it's supposedly very tough and etc. it isn't as great as they make it seem - me and my friend had our brake calipers and rotors painted at the same time and he used that g2 brush kit and i used simple spray cans and his actually chips off and in large pieces, mine hasn't chipped or anything.. i used 500 degree engine enamel as my color paint and also 500 degree engine enamel clear coat

good luck

I hope it turns out well. There is a warranty against any problems like chipping etc. for a full product replacement. Hopefully I wont need it.
