Default Brake pads and rotors?

Hello,

I have a dillema, i need new brake pads and rotors, i searched and i dont know which ones to buy:
Pads: Axiss ultimate, ebc red, endless vita pads,
rotors: brembo slotted, brembo crossed drilled

can someone help me pick a good combination between rotors and pads, thanks so much.

I have a 2001 GS 3000.

I've also been searching, researching, searching, researching and questioning everyone before I make a purchase also. I'm just going to replace with OEM size stuff and these are my final choices. Please comment guys becuase I have not used any of these yet, this is pure research. Figured I would try to save you 10 hours of reading.

Rotors

1. Brembo
(Brembo Sports not cheap crap, slotted for less problems vs. drilled, about $400-450 for all 4, can get them at l-tunedparts or tirerack, plated so won't rust)

2. Rotora
slotted and plated rotors, many people have them and are happy with them, little cheaper, but I found out yesterday that prices went up at Carson (l-tunedparts.com) to $110-front $90-rear

Pads

1. Axxis Deluxe- seems like a good choice for least amount of dust, noise, (l-tunedparts)

2. Akebono Pro Act ceramics- quiet, no dust, good wear (tirearack)

Im in the same boat, in terms of needing to upgrade the oem rotors and pads soon. Outside of the ones listed above (and like the obvious choices for most), what are the other options in terms of generic brands (or brands outside of Brembo and Rotora)? Thanks in advance for the info....

You all could research yourselves to death here. I just did the same thing. When I bought the car I needed to replace the rear rotors. I went with brembo blanks and stock pads all around, then I needed to replace the fronts. I got the Rotora slotted and drilled from Sewell for a great price, again using stock pads. I will upgrade pads when it becomes necessary, but all the products you have listed are quality products, and if you dig hard enough you will find both great stories of success and probably a few problem threads. It's the nature of the beast. Make your decision and enjoy.

i have brembo rotors (they're supposed to be plated to not rust, but i still have some rust form after car washes? but it comes off easily... is that normal? the rust also gets stuck in the drilled holes and slotted areas as well...? anyways, the brake pads i used were bendix pads (ceramic) the rotors i got all for slotted and cross drilled brembo (w. lifetime warranty through brembo) for $480 and the pads were right around $100 for front and rears

good luck with your choices!!

I do not have any luck on Brembo rotors. I will be installing this week stock Racing Brake rotors match with Hawk pads.

Thanks guys

I'm actually purchasing the same setup right now. No, you don't have to do the rears at the same time. Good luck.

I need to return the rear rotor wrong part number. This one is too big for my stock caliper.

I have a 99 GS300 w/ 130K miles. Is there a mileage point where I should consider replacing the rotors?
