by the way by holding down the od button you can also shut off the maintenance light in our dash

Default gonna try it in 15...

The problem is the Matrix insructions requires turning the key in the ignition. Since new IS has a "start" button I doubt it will work the same. Some Lexus tech must know what to do. We just have to keep searching or experiment.

Here's the Matrix instructions just so you get an idea...

1. turn the key to the ON position, foot off the brake
2. cycle the odometer with the trip reset button until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B)
3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position
4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled.
5. turn the key to the ON position. when the dash lights have come on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec)
6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.
7. the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.
8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off.
...minutes, after i put my daughter to bed. i hope it works. i was in a mood today where i just wanted some queit. i was under the seat pulling plugs when i got home! as i havent tried it just yet, i have to believe that this will work since there is a way to do it on another toyota model without pulling plugs, fuses or cutting wires...be back tomorrow with my update!

Default couldnt wait till tomorrow...

...to thank knox for the tip. my hat is off to you and i REALLY REALLY thank you. that is what these forums are all about, exchanging info and helping each other, along with having some fun. this topic went from "theres no way" to "why would you want to do that?" to a great solution that didnt involve a soldering iron! the wonderful chorus of silence puts a huge grin on my face . THANKS!!!

i just tried it in my GS, and it worked!!!!!!! THANKS FOR POSTING THE SOLUTION

the only difference in the GS is that there is a separate "RESET" button to the right of the ODO/TRIP button. at first i kept doing the reset button and it didn't work. You just hold the ODO/TRIP button instead.

thanks again, you just made my evening.

PS. Where do you guys find thi s stuff?[/QUOTE]

the original instructions that terenshi modified came from matrixowners.com

since a lexus is a toyota it only makes sense to try what's already floating around on existing boards...

Default Seat Belt Reminder System

This is actually posted in the Lexus IS250/350 Repair Manual on page BE-195:

Buzzer Reminder Cancel Mode Setting

1) Set the LCD on the combination meter to the ODO display.

2) Press and hold the TRIP meter reset **** for ten seconds or more within six seconds of turning the power source to IG-ON. Fastening the driver's seat belt or front passenger seat belt while holding the **** cancels the buzzer reminder.

      3) When this occurs, the LCD displays "b-oFF". The buzzer reminder can be switched between ON and OFF each time the TRIP meter reset **** is pressed. The LCD displays "b-on" or "b-oFF" according to the buzzer reminder ON/OFF status. The display changes to the ODO or TRIP meter if the **** is not pressed for ten seconds.

      4) Performing steps 1) and 2) again when the buzzer reminder is off exits cancel mode.

      5) The cancel mode will also exit when the battery or combination meter connector is disconnected or reconnected.
