Touring Atlanta in a Tennis Ball Lexus RX Is More Fun Than It Sounds
Tennis is a weird thing. In the world of sports it is easily one of my least favorites. So when Lexus called me to let me know there was a tennis tournament coming up to Atlanta, and that they wanted me to attend, I chuckled softly to myself and declined. But then they told me they have a new Lexus RX that is covered from tip to stern in actual tennis ball felt from Wilson, and that I could have the keys. So I packed up and blasted to Atlanta for an afternoon of boring sports and hilariously fun and silly driving.
What we have here is a cross-section of my multi-hour tour of Atlanta in a fuzzy, neon-colored Lexus. I drove it the Coke HQ building, the Georgia Aquarium, SkyView Ferris Wheel, the College Football Hall of Fame, and, of course IKEA, as no trip to Atlanta is complete without a stop at IKEA. I also managed to drive it into Centennial Park… accidentally, and definitely not on purpose because the grounds keeping team left the gate open.
Take a look at my photos of the neon menace rolling around to some of Atlanta’s biggest landmarks, as well as a few alleys and bars. I can’t see a biergarten and just pass it by, I like beer and sausage too much for that. I also made a video of the excursion if you want to hear some more thoughts about what it’s actually like to be behind the wheel of this thing.
