Nothing Says Earth Day Like a B.S. Powered Toyota
Believe it or not, there are folks out there who bemoan hydrogen fuel cell vehicles as bullsh*t. And in this case, they’d be right.
Today being Earth Day and everything, Toyota PR wheeled out the short vid below showcasing the hydrogen fuel cell electric Toyota Mirai, which can actually run with the help of processed cow dung. The video, called “Fueled by Bullsh*t,” is directed by award winning director Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) as part of a multi-part series called, Fueled by Everything.
It’s a great little video that shows off some of the most forward thinking, world saving technology around. (Unless of course there’s a nefarious underside of bullsh*t mining that I’m not aware of.)
Here’s how Spurlock describes his work, via Toyota’s press release:
“This project gave us the opportunity to dive into a world that most people don’t understand but has the potential to change our world. Witnessing manure, something most of us view as being pretty disposable, being transformed into hydrogen fuel to power a car was pretty remarkable. I think this short film is pretty compelling evidence of what could be possible in the years ahead.”
But the Mirai isn’t just powered by b.s.; hydrogen can be sourced from solar, wind, biogas from landfills, and more. And these local resources are emitted as water vapor from the tailpipe. Whoa. That’s change the world stuff right there.
Changing the world is always good to think about, but that’s especially true on Earth Day. So let’s commend Toyota for loading up on such cool projects. And for sharing their patents for others to build upon.
Just don’t forget to keep building sports cars too!
