Spied: 2014 Lexus CT With Spindle Grille
The dedicated hybrid CT is one of the last in the Lexus line up to receive the signature spindle grille. In fact the CT was one of the first vehicles that help developed the initial spindle grille look. LeftLane News has recently discovered a lightly disguised CT with a more pronounced spindle grille and a new set of wheels.
This past summer, I discovered a photoshopped CT 200h in Mag X with a rendering of what a formal spindle grille could look like. With these recent photos surfacing online, it appears that the rendering was spot on in predicting what's to come. In the rendering, an F SPORT model was depicted with a diamond zig-zag grille insert accented by chrome upper and lower fangs.
Now with these real world sightings, you can clearly see that this F SPORT model has a new spindle grille fascia including dark accents under the fog lamps similar to what we've seen in previous Five Axis-built project cars. From the looks of it, this F SPORT model will retain its fog lamps. It's also unclear if those are new headlights but it appears they are as there is a single projector in the housing and an unbroken LED DRL line at the bottom.
As for the rest of the car, it appears new a new split 5 spoke wheel will be offered in a silver finish with graphite inner accents. The rear bumper gets an updated and sculpted look while the roof is blacked out. There's even a new sharkfin antenna on top. Not sure if the blacked out roof is a disguise or not, but it would look cool if it was standard on this CT F SPORT.
If you look closely at the car up front covered in a blue tarp, it appears to have a horizontal lower grille which could possibly mean that this is a standard CT 200h and that we may finally get the real full F SPORT with bumpers like the rest of the global markets.
No details have officially come from Lexus but we expect to see this new 2014 CT later this year in LA or Detroit.
