Man Wrecks Lexus to Collect Insurance Money, Gets Arrested Instead

I understand that times are tough, but there is no excuse for treating a perfectly good Lexus with such disrespect.

Of course, the 2015 Lexus wasn’t the only thing James Tassi Jr. disrespected when he “crashed” his car into a canal near Delray Beach, Florida in late August. He also disrespected the law. Or to be more factual, he broke it.

Florida state officials found that Tassi, a 58-year-old broker, purposefully crashed his Lexus in order to collect a fraudulent insurance claim. Apparently that false insurance claim was for more than $20,000.

According to the Palm Beach Post, an official from the Florida Department of Financial Services’ Division of Insurance Fraud was contacted about Tassi’s “vehicle ditching” plan. And there’s video and audio evidence of Tassi driving the white Lexus into the canal. He was arrested on charges of perjury, insurance fraud, and criminal mischief earlier this week.

I’m going to go ahead and guess the insurance company won’t be paying for that smashed Lexus now.

In other news, I made it all the way till the end of this story to point out that Tassi is from Florida.
