Lexus Recalling Thousands of RX and RX Hybrid Crossovers
The completely redesigned Lexus RX crossover arrived in showroom floors in early November of 2015, and it has been steadily capturing loyal and brand-new customers for Lexus, which is exactly what the luxury Japanese brand is trying to accomplish.
Something that Lexus is most definitely not looking for are component problems with their best-selling vehicle, but Toyota Motor Sales just announced that it’s recalling over 6,000 brand new Lexus RX350 and 450h luxury crossovers because of knee airbag concerns.
While this isn’t related in any way to the Takata airbag mega-disaster, the Japanese airbag supplier Gosei (partly owned by Toyota) claims that only the driver’s knee airbag is affected on the RXs, and therefore it isn’t a life threatening issue. So just knee-threatening then?
Toyota claims that no other airbags are affected in the RX or any other Lexus models, and that no accidents or injuries have been reported so far. Current owners will be notified via mail, and asked to bring their beloved luxury cocoons to be inspected and repaired by the dealer at no cost of their own—if applicable.
