Lexus Flagship SUV Rendering Gives Us Something Big to Talk About
Since inventing the segment, Lexus has been making its bread and butter with the luxury SUV. But while SUVs have been important to the marque for a long while, none of them have vied for flagship status. No, that’s the terrain of the ultra-primo LS, and it always has been. But shouldn’t the company that created the luxury SUV offer a premium, top-end version? TopSpeed certainly thinks so, and they’ve gone ahead and rendered what such a Lexus flagship SUV might look like, as you can see in the photo above.
TopSpeed didn’t create the rendering out of the blue, though. Oh no, they have every reason to believe that Lexus will be making such a premium SUV in the near future. In August, Jeff Bracken, Lexus’s division general manager, told Reuters that the company has been entertaining thoughts of adding another flagship model, that details about such a model will be revealed in January, and that “it doesn’t have to be a sedan.”
In the same interview, Bracken talked about his respect for the Land Rover, the Escalade, and the German premium SUVs. But that doesn’t mean there’s not room for more contenders in the market space. Or at least that’s probably what Braken is hoping for, along with Bentley, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, and Maserati, who are all just joining the SUV party.
Besides going to the trouble of creating the lovely visual above, TopSpeed also wrote up a nice long story about what features they expect to see inside and out of Lexus’s new flagship SUV. So head on over and give it a read, and then let us know your thoughts.
