Lexus Delivers Record 6-Month Sales Figures in Europe
There was a time when Lexus couldn’t find any inroads into the Eurpean market, well, those times they are a changing.
In the first six months of 2016, Lexus posted record sales on the old continent. With many of those sales being of the hybrid variety.
Overall, Lexus sold 36,405 vehicles in the first six months of 2016, with hybrids representing about two-thirds of those. In Western Europe, hybrids account for a staggering 98% of total vehicles sold.
Leading the charge was the one-year-old compact SUV, the NX, with 12,689 units sold. Impressively, that number is pretty close to the same number of NX vehicles sold in the first half of last year, when the car was just launched. The NX’s slightly bigger brother, the all-new RX, more than doubled its 2015 first-half output, selling 8,815 units overall.
In Eastern Europe, the new LX fared particularly well, selling 3,067 units, which is plus 143% over the same period last year.
With 972 units sold, the Euros also took kindly to the RC coupe, which was launched there earlier this year.
All in all, Lexus Europe increased their sales by 16% when compared to H1 2015. That number is solid on its own, but it’s even more noteworthy when you factor in that the premium market in Europe increased at a significantly slower pace: 12%.
Keep up the good work, Lexus Europe, the world is watching.
