Car Show Gallery: Lexus Represents at Formula DRIFT Streets of Long Beach

Lexus at Formula DRIFT (2)

Plumes of tire smoke reaching for the skies like the water fountains at the Bellagio — deafening engines getting the Harlem Globe Trotter dribble off the rev limiter — Formula DRIFT’s 90-mph tail-out action is more than mesmerizing … it’s life-changing. This was my first Formula D event, and I came away from it with two life lessons:

1) Even if you’re not a racing fan (like me) Formula DRIFT will have you hooked.

2) The vehicles on display at the event, whether in the car show section or in the vendor booths, are an attraction in themselves. You know those g-force-activated inflatable seat bolsters in the BMW M5? The show cars bolstered this Formula DRIFT event as nicely as those M5 bolsters … and that reminds me: those torso-huggers need to be offered in a current Lexus product. They could have come in handy that week we tested the 2015 Lexus RC F.

Enjoy this legion of Lexi I saw at Formula DRIFT 2015 Round 1: Streets of Long Beach. I’ve also included some of the action on the track.
