80-Year-Old Crashes Lexus Into AAA Office, Presumably Calls AAA
This may have been the quickest AAA response time ever.
We’re certainly not saying that AAA is notably slow in offering roadside assistance, but on this particular occassion, they really wouldn’t have had too far to go. This Lexus ES350 literally crashed into AAA’s office building.
In Portland, Maine yesterday, an 80-year-old woman accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake and wound up knocking into the side of the building which houses AAA of Northern New England’s headquarters and local offices. Workers said they felt the impact as high up as the fifth floor.
Witnesses said that the driver appeared shaken up but otherwise okay. Also shaken pretty good but seemingly okay was Robin Tucker, a life insurance salesman for AAA, whose office ended up with a new decor: a Lexus front grille.
“I heard a rev. I glanced up … and saw her coming at me… The car came flying at me and then there was glass everywhere and dust. We’re both staring at each other through the window… She was totally shocked,” Tucker told the Portland Press Herald.
Fortunately, it doesn’t sound like anyone was seriously hurt in the mishap. Although perhaps the Lexus was, judging from the force of the impact. No word whether it was a triple-A truck that towed the car off, but we do know a structural engineer had to examine the building first.
