Lexus lead the way in self-driving technologies

Although the next ten years will probably be too soon to see the upcoming "self-driving revolution" come full swing, it's a safe bet that the decade following that will see self-driving cars as a regular sight in day-to-day life. These foundations Lexus are laying in the meantime will place them at the forefront of one of the 21st century's great evolutions. Better still, they probably won't need to wait as long as other manufacturers would to see a profit from this; their sales record in the past has been characterized by high profits and demand with a relatively limited production scope. That is the perfect set-up for piloting a promising new technology like this. More likely than not, it will even attract new customers to Lexus who may not have been lured by the prospect of luxury alone.

2. Optimistic success; consecutive years of growth.

In an official 2017 report, Lexus announced the fourth consecutive year of sales growth occurred for their European market. That success certainly isn't exclusive to Europe either; as anyone who has driven down a US interstate before can testify, the Lexus nameplate is all over America. The Lexus brand has a disproportionately powerful sway-- so much so that Lexus sales have sometimes comprised up to half of Toyota's entire US sales in certain years. If the rising success in Europe is any indication, there's reason to expect future success in other parts of the world, particularly countries with a burgeoning middle class like China.

3. Exciting new models on the horizon.

The LS+. The LC 500. The UX Concept. The LF-1 Limitless. These are just some of the fresh and exciting designs that have caught our eye from the Lexus camp. In particular, the LF-1 Limitless (pictured here) is just the sort of realistic near-future design to make one think a few years ahead in practical terms. Lexus' designs have always felt a bit futuristic with their angular style; such as it is we'd be negligent not to mention their cars already look like they'll mesh with the vogue of 2025.

4. A friend to fuel options.

We don't think it's controversial to call Lexus a leader in hybrid vehicles. After all, if someone is spending the extra money on luxury already, it's that much more likely that they'll invest in a cleaner option while they're at it. However, did you know that Lexus is one of the automakers still upholding good old natural aspiration? Check out the fresh Lexus LC concept car as an example; a 471-horsepower performer with a naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 roaring under the hood. If that sounds like the sort of thing you'd more likely see in a vintage muscle car, that's because it's true. Although naturally aspirated cars are sadly destined to be a niche category in favor of more efficient turbo-charged cars, we thought it worthwhile to make a point of it. For whatever criticisms the Lexus brand is uptight, let it be known they're one of the defenders of the old ways.

As far as fuel options go, Lexus is only bound to see increasing success with their hybrid and EV models. But then again, that's about as obvious as saying oceans are wet.

Enduring brand loyalty and recognition.

A reputation like Lexus is the sort of thing that money can't buy. No amount of advertising can turn someone into a customer for life. Only quality-- and consistent quality at that-- can make a lifelong fan of a fresh customer. Keeping this in mind, there's no reason to think Lexus' existing base of customers is going anywhere. In fact, even if you stripped away all of the ambitious technologies from the itinerary, even just the qualities that Lexus have offered consistently would place them on an upward trajectory for the coming decade and beyond.

Luxury won't be going out of style any time soon.
