Why, Hello There 3-Row RX
Introduced almost 20 years ago, the RX became the best selling vehicle for Lexus and was the world's best crossover before the term crossover ever had any weight in the automotive industry. Lexus looks to capture the market once again with this three-row variant caught testing out in SoCal.
More room for people or just things
The RX now has a longer rear overhang and a more upright roof to allow passengers to comfortably ride in the far back. Other than those changes it looks like this RX will be no different than other normal RX models. From what we can surmise from looking at the seat placement in the backseat is that the third row is probably set closely behind and could even be foldable.

Is the L for Longer?
Lexus has gone and trademarked a couple names that may grace the rear of the new variant each ending with an "L." The new designations are the RX350L and RX450hL that point to consumers receiving a V6 or V6 hybrid powertrain to mirror the versions already on the market. These new entrants for the model could also give Lexus an excuse to update the style of the vehicles as to keep up with the newest design language.

The affordable people mover
The seven seater RX would be a big deal for Lexus since it would be the brand's first car-based three-row SUV. Until now the only way you could move the most people in a Lexus vehicle would be by way of the pricey GX or the tiny luxury bus known as the LX. Both of those vehicles are ladder-on-frame and lack the road handling of the lighter RX.
