Extreme Makeover

Change is, as they say, inevitable, and we Americans are fascinated with it. Whether we're completing extreme makeovers on ourselves, our homes, or our rides. And we just can't get enough of this phenomena, even if we aren't the ones doing the changing.

One of the best places to see extreme makeovers of the automotive kind is right here in the Club Lexus forums. Which is exactly where we spotted member Ciggy's awesome Lexus IS redo in process.

Cleaning Things Up

Today, OP's modification inventory reads more like a grocery list you put together for the extended family's Thanksgiving food lineup. But things started rather innocently, with a simple delete of the dealer and "AWD" badges. from the car.

Taking Shape

Ciggy also took this opportunity to install an F-Sport intake and exhaust at this point to give the IS some needed growl. Next up, he upgraded things in the looks department with a roof and antenna blackout. And after installing a Seibon diffuser and extending the F-Sport exhaust tips nearly four inches, this IS build was beginning to really take shape.

Stanced

The looks and performance mods just kept coming after that. Starting with a small trunk spoiler and slammed stance courtesy of RS*R coilovers and SPC rear control arms. To round out the stance, the OP also installed a set of Ichiba spacers to let those wheels poke out.

Custom Touches

Determined to leave no stone unturned, Ciggy picked up a 2017 center console to upgrade the interior. He also dropped off a bunch of interior trim pieces with a buddy, who proceeded to hydro dip them black carbon fiber for a nice custom touch.

Tinkering Continues

Ciggy seemed to be content with the build at this point...but that didn't last long. The tinkering continued with some illuminated F-Sport door sills and a carbon fiber grille surround. After that came months of driving and enjoying the fruits of his labor.

Winter is Coming

With winter coming, some changes were necessary to be made for the car. Ciggy raised up his ride an inch and adjusted the suspension for a softer ride. He also removed the wheel spacers and installed a set of snow-friendly Blizzak tires to climb through the fluffy white stuff. Finally, a Thule Flow roof box to hold his winter sports equipment was installed.

Thawing Out

The IS proved to be a formidable winter ride to endure the frosty seasonal weather. However, when things began to thaw out, it was time to start modding once again. First up, was a Japan-sourced carbon fiber lip followed up with an RR tune, Apexi b-pipe, and new Velgen wheels and Michelin rubber.

Slowing Down

From there, the mods kept trickling in such as a flat bottom steering wheel and even more carbon fiber for the interior. To bring things down to legal speeds came a big brake kit from RR Racing for good measure.

Coming Together

Since then, Ciggy has just been driving and enjoying his incredibly clean IS. And we've enjoyed watching the whole thing come together piece by piece. You can do the same by heading over here, and be sure and stay tuned for future updates!
